If the thread already has multiple comments, I tend to just read through it and don't necessarily pay attention to who said what. I may remember to go back and heart a comment that stood out (in a positive way) to me, but (honestly) most of the time I either forget or just don't bother. I use @ if I'm responding to a specific comment. In rare instances I'll also tag someone I think will most likely be interested. I often don't tag anyone when I'm responding to threads like this one. If I'm interested in following a topic, I "float" it to make it easy to see new posts.
As far as personal messages...while there are times when I would love to be able to exchange info privately, I also realize that on a large, public board , that would open the door to lots of issues. After almost 20 years online (and way more than that dealing with the public) I've seen a lot of examples of how quickly a topic can "turn," sometimes done deliberately, sometimes having to do with one person's choice of wording combined with someone else's interpretation of them.

That doesn't mean at all that everyone else does.
I also do consider this community ("QVC Community") to be like a conversation. That is just what I like.
Thank you for responding and giving your opinions.
I consider you a considerate poster.

@Also, if I have stated my opinion and someone @s me to the contrary, sometimes I will respond if there is need for clarification but, again, if I've made my opinion clear, I won't keep the argument going. I don't need to prove I'm right.
@This would be me as well. Some posters use the @ notifications as "hey you, come back here, I'm not finished with you yet!" or "What do you have to say to THAT?"
Since I'm at no one's beck and call, I usually ignore those. If I've given my opinion, that's usually all I want to do.

I like that there are choices and it can be ignored. ![]()
It's probably one of those things that would work well on some boards, but on this one everything is used in some way that is probably unintended, by some.
I swear, I saw a video from 'To Kill a Mockingbird' in one post for a hot second and then it disappeared entirely. Maybe I'm seeing things (?).

You're not nuts! It's still there. It does *blink* or black out for a few seconds, but it's there. @chickenbutt

I like the @ feature because I don't like to unintentionally ignore a poster who has responded to me. I also use it to respond to a post that I find especially on point for the topic.
The hearts are fine-I give them and I get them. It's all good.
