Re: When does collecting become hoarding?

@smoochy I went through a phase where I collected the stuffed Boyd's Bears.  I have maybe 20 or so, and then I told myself to stop.  They are all up on a shelf in my craft room.  They are cute, but if I could find a place to sell them, I would do so.  I don't want to give them away, but I would be willing to sell them.

II can't fault you, I have a small Snoopy and his entire wardrobe, also a Paddington bear and the beanies from my child's collecting days.

I've kept the sweaters, socks, and scarves my mother knitted for me.

@occasionalrain   yes, these things are precious...it tugs at my heart to  part with some things from my mom. A little dress she made for me i wore in 1st grade. It was sewn so beautifully, wth a lace trimmed bib front and perfectly placed pearlescent buttons. Also her satin wedding handbag, a frame style with a kiss-lock, trimmed with tiny seed beads.

when my sister died and we were clearing out her apartment, we found many mementos that had belonged to our mom. An embroidered handkerchief. A pair of gloves. An empty zip lock bag, sealed, that was labeled in sharpie marker "mom's scent"  🥺💔

Re: When does collecting become hoarding?

Having been stuck with cleaning out a number of houses, not much sentimental any more.  Even my mom's stuff just doesn't hold the feeling I thought it would.

It's just stuff.  Doesn't hug me, say there there when I need it or comfort me.  It just takes up space, and there is very very little stuff left.
