My information is outdated probably, but Ebola has proven to be self-limiting because it kills its prey so effectively. From my perspective, people who actually get this disease have come in close physical contact with the infected. Washing linens, etc. (exchange of bodily fluids, of course). I think the final decision must be that even by breathing in droplets, you can't get it unless the individual is in the dire phases of the disease process.
Don't know if more of the antibody has been manufactured, just in case, but I'd imagine so.

Terrier - this is off topic. How did your son's meeting go?
Regarding Ebola, I wouldn't be surprised if some cases were being hushed. I don't think anyone wants to start a panic.

I see the conspiracy theorists are alive and well. Just have to SMH and laugh. There is no way they could keep a case of active Ebola here in the US secret for very long. LOL!
The latest information I have is that there were still something along the lines of 30 or so active cases across several different areas in Africa.
Also, they have developed a test that identifies Ebloa much faster than the previous test so that will certainly benefit health care workers with any future outbreaks. Great news!

He got a second offer for his script, but his manager and he agree he needs to hold out for more money and/or more control of the final product. They interviewed agents while he was out there and he will be hiring one.
It's a good sign that TWO different companies have made offers already...they think that if they "cast" again, more "fish" will be biting.
Thanks for asking!

I was thinking about this the other day. I assume we have it under control in the U.S.? My son is starting his 2nd year residency in infectious diseases and his hospital is one of the approved sites for Ebola treatment. Makes me nervous- couldn't he specialize in anything BUT INFECTIOUS DISEASES?

Oh, but what a great field to specialize in Tribefan!!! And the risk of him being exposed to Ebola here in the US over the next several years is really pretty low. Not zero, but it is really minimal. In the meantime he can do great things helping people with infectious diseases. What a fascinating field!

Out of sight, out of mind. Without searching for stats, my guess is the disease is still rampant in Africa, and the medical people from the US who contracted it, have recovered, so the news has moved on to the latest crisis of the moment. I am fairly sure that the disease has not been wiped out. Perhaps they are working on a vaccine. I don't know.
