@on the bay wrote:Wow-I just went to listen to this "Sound of Silence" by Disturbed and he has a beautiful powerful voice.
But that is one of the darkest videos I think I've seen!
Though I do know that sometimes that kind really has a lot of meaning sometimes.
I listen to Hallelujah (all versions) and cry everytime!
I am listening to a lot that I'm reading here to see what they are like, so @Susan Louise-
thanks for starting this
I am writing some down to give to my son for a birthday
Hi! Yes, it does have a dark feel, but mostly powerful in its darkness. I'm a Scorpio, so I'm probably drawn to dark and intense sometimes. It was just so amazing that I felt it all the way to my core (especially with the headphones in!).

Oh, I love Monster Mash! What fun song with a catchy tune.
I think the last thing I listened to was this cover of 'The Sound of Silence' by a group called 'Disturbed'. It is hauntingly beautiful and brilliantly done. I've probably listened to it 15 or 20 times since a friend from another board turned me on to it.
ETA - here it is in case anybody else wants to hear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4
Wow! Just WOW!!! What a FANTASTIC cover of one of my favorite songs ever! I don't usually like covers, especially of classics like The Sound of Silence, but this guy knocks it out of the park! I've listened to it several times already - thanks so much for posting this!
You sound just like me when I first heard it!! I could not get enough and, as I just mentioned to the dooB, it's just mind-blowing with headphones.
I actually bought it on iTunes to put on my iPod so that I would have it forever. Plus I have the link saved so I can also revisit it on my computers.
I, too, have always loved this song and am such a major fan of Simon & Garfunkel. I also have all their music on my iPods.
I'm so happy that you loved it like I do! It's just so beautifully brilliant. I had not heard of this band before this. I love his powerful voice and the band! I love violins and just the whole thing.
I, too, listened with headphones and just can't stop playing it and will definitely buy it. I graduated from high school in the 60's during Simon and Garfunkel's prime and have loved their music forever. Several years ago my husband and I were lucky enough to Simon and Garfunkel in concert. I had never heard of Disturbed either!

You know there's a lot that goes by the front door
Don't forget the keys under the mat
Childhood stars shine, always stay humble and kind
Go to church 'cause your momma says to
Visit grandpa every chance that you can
It won't be a waste of time
Always stay humble and kindHold the door say please say thank you
Don't steal, don't cheat, and don't lie
I know you got moutains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind
When the dreams you're dreamin' come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
Always stay humble and kindDon't expect a free ride from no one
Don't hold a grudge or a chip and here's why
Bitterness keeps you from flying
Always stay humble and kind
Know the difference between sleeping with someone
And sleeping with someone you love
I love you ain't no pick up line so
Always stay humble and kindHold the door say please say thank you
Don't steal, don't cheat, and don't lie
I know you got moutains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind
When those dreams you're dreamin' come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
Always stay humble and kindWhen it's hot, eat a root beer, a popsicle
Shut off the AC and roll the windows down
Let that summer sun shine
Always stay humble and kind
Don't take for granted the love this life gives you
When you get where you're goin'
Don't forget turn back around
Help the next one in line
Always stay humble and kindHi @Cakers3
Congrats on your Sox win! Hope you were able to watch the parade online.
I love this song! It is the ringtone I use for when my son calls me.
My favorite lines are ........
When you get where you're goin'
Don't forget turn back around
Help the next one in line@dmod nj Hi Donna: Sure did enjoy the games!! Too bad some idiot had to damage the trophy. Grrrrr.
Those lines have so much meaning, I agree. DH is making a CD for grandson and this song is the first he recorded. He writes some of his own, too. House looks like a recording studio but without the studio. LOL
ITA, I did not like hearing about the trophy damage or beer being thrown at anyone.
I know exactly what you mean about the house looking like a studio. My son records himself and his friends. There are microphones and wires all over. lol
What a lovely, touching idea to record some heartfelt songs and originals for your grandson.

Along that same line, have you heard ‘Zombie’ by Bad Wolves?
(Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’). I love the original...just edgier.

'S Wonderful-- composed by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin
Performed in the "Hooray for Love" medley that Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand did on the Judy Garland show. Had to look it up on youtube while reading the thread on Streisand!
Also love the version Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn did while dancing in the movie "Funny Face":
