All of a sudden, Hotmail has decided to tighten its security--to the point where I can't even access it. I've been using the same password for years--it no longer works. They want an access code--what? How do I contact them?

Anyone else having problems?

Hotmail is Yahoo, right? I think they were affected by the big Heartbleed security thing. Over 500,000 websites affected. People are being prompted everywhere affected to change their passwords once the fix is installed on each site.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I had that happen about a week ago. They sent a text code to my phone that I had to enter to get into my mail. Hotmail is MSN, not Yahoo.

Oops, I apologize. Thanks for the correction.

No problem - I used to think they were the same too. Wink

I've been getting the same type of msg. (for codes to be entered) for online bills I'm trying to pay. I think a lot of companies are 'verifying' so there's less "hacking".

Does anyone know what's going on? TIA

I really think it might be because of that Heartbleed security thing that's in the news now.

Yes, I believe you are right. Hotmail and Gmail are two e-mail programs that have been infected.

Okay, that makes sense.

I had a rehearsal this morning, and tried getting to my email when I came back. This time I went a bit farther, and actually changed my password. So now I'm back.

But I'll miss the password that's worked for me the past 15 years!

Thanks for the responses.

I have Hotmail and have had no issue at all. I enter the same password and get right in.
