What's up with McDonald's coffee?

The one item I've had from MDs that never had a decline in quality, even during the recession was their coffee. Its always been outstanding. I hadn't had any for along time until last week. My husband bought me a cup for a treat and it did not have the flavor it used to have. Today, my husband brought me another cup. It's a completely different coffee than they used in the past. It's not smooth anymore. The flavor is completely different. It's obviously a different coffee. Has anyone else noticed this? It's still strong.

Nothing tastes the same to me either.  Rarely get fast food but spouse kept seeing commercial for Kentucky Fried Chicken and said let's get some for dinner.

It was bland and tasted terrible🤮.  Guess we can cross that off the list and btw McD has changed the coffee even that doesn't seem the same to me.   I'm a Wawa coffee drinker now.

@homedecor1    You have Wawa in Florida?  I don't think in all my years I've ever had fast food coffee, but it's the only time I get a Diet Coke, A treat.

Yes so excited one of the biggest things I missed from NJ was no Wawa here but about 3 years ago they opened one about 1.5 miles from the house😃😃😃

Re: What's up with McDonald's coffee?

Mindy D, I don't know about McDonald's coffee, but I have noticed a difference in my can of Kirkland Signature 100% Colombian Coffee from Costco.

I sense a slightly bitter taste in my mouth after drinking it, and for the first time, a heavy brown residue is left behind in my coffee pot and my mug.  Before the pandemic, such a residue could show up after a long period of time, but now it is there rather quickly after cleanings.

This is the second large can in a row that has this sort of coffee.  Something changed during this time of Covid, but I don't know what.  Have they mixed something in with the old coffee to stretch it?  All kinds of little tricks are going on, I think, to help manufacturers make almost as much money as in the Before Times.

That's dissapointing.  I've loved McDonalds coffee for years and not sure if urban legend but supposedly blind taste testing results of it vs Starbigbucks had McDonalds the winner.

I haven't had McDonald's coffee for years as I make a coffee concentrate and don't need to stop.  But now I'm curious!

@homedecor1    I'm  insanely jealous.  I love their meatball sandwiches.

Re: What's up with McDonald's coffee?

DH is a real coffee snob and usually will only drink Starbucks whole bean that Costco sells under their own label . He loves the McDonalds coffee also which was a huge surprise to me. He asks for a " senior " coffee decaf and they do a quick brew for him. Depending on where you live, the senior coffee is  25 cents to $1.25. It's the small size. He recently got a cup while he was running an errand and said it tasted weird so he had to put cream and trivia in it when he got home. I have noticed many products taste differently or have been changed in some way since the supply chain issues. McDonalds could have changed their source for coffee to save money.

Okay, this is not something I'm proud of but let's just say I know McDonald's Diet Cokes like the back of my hand. And not only did they recently have a huge increase in price, they're now slightly watered down too...something is different. At least that's the case with the particular location I go to.

I think many companies lost their suppliers.  Either they went out of business, have shipping problems or the raw product is no longer available.
