Re: What's Wrong With Some People

I'm my neighborhood I have seen one or two people who check out the recyclables before pickup. I think they are looking for cans and bottles they can redeem for money. I sometimes put items out that never make it to the sanitation truck, they mysteriously disappear! I guess one man's trash is another man's treasure!

Wow you really have some life and death problems to worry about  Smiley LOL.  Get a generator and stop complaining because your neighbor bought one.  It is their right to have a generator.

The city has ordinance against having boats and RV’s in view of street, probably because this area is not particularly close to lakes, etc. The ordinance is meant to keep driveways for cars.

If it’s your property, your driveway, and you park your boat there, instead of your car, I still don’t see the problem?

Is the neighbor parking vehicles on the street, instead and causing congestion?

There are city ordinances regarding certain things, like boats, small trailers, etc as it's illegal to live in one parked on property that is single family zoned. However, Developments have restrictions due to Homeowners covenants, and usually there is a gated area set aside for boats, motor homes, etc. I can understand that a nice development wants to keep the integrity and pristine condition of the neighborhood without the clultter of all kinds of vehicles and such all over the place.

Re: What's Wrong With Some People

One of our neighbors used to run from house to house dropping his trash in everyone else's yard because he didn't want to pay for pick-up.  He took turns as to which house he would drop it off at.  I used to see him doing it super early in the morning.

As an aside, our local news just did a story about recycling and how people are putting things in that bin that cannot be recycled. They went through what can and cannot be recycled and how you cannot put greasy pizza boxes in there, containers from berries, etc.  They went on to say that if you put something in your recycle bin that cannot be recycled, it contaminates the entire bin and nothing gets recycled.

Apparently the city of Cleveland began sending letters out to repeat offenders and now they are going to start fining people.

I live in a city that has the same type of ordinance.  We are only allowed a certain number of cars in the driveway on a regular basis, no boats or RV's in the driveway and not cars all over the lawn.

Boats and RV's can be parked on the side of the house but they cannot be in the driveway.  I do live in a lake community. Our city doesn't want stuff like that junking up yards and driveways plus it's a safety thing.  It can be hard to see around some boats and RVs if you are trying to back out of your driveway.

Ah, neighbors! Good ones are so appreciated. Our city has an ordinance against parking boats in driveways but each summer a neighbor brings his and it stays until fall. Last year he had something to repair so it was December before it was gone. I can live with a couple of weeks here or there, but this long? If I call the city I have to give name so neighbor will know. Then they are warned and then have a week or so to remove. Then the next year it’s a repeat, you would think this would carry over to next year. I guess we pick our battles but onecexpects more from fellow home owner.

I guess I don’t understand what would be a problem with someone parking their boat, in their driveway?

@SuhseK, I would not want to live in a neighborhood where people parked boats or trailers in their driveway.

Re: What's Wrong With Some People

Living in a rural area we do things different. We do have pick-up for regular garbage, if we choose to pay for it. Otherwise we take all of our recyclables over to the center where we throw out our own. I never knew how much recyclable garbage we had until I had to sort it. I have very, very little regular garbage.

People need to realize that many residents have security cameras placed around their property!  Shame on their rude behavior!

I've seen ppl throw dog feces in others' trash.  My neighbor is a feisty woman prob 80 who saw some guy doing that to hers and came out and confronted him.  She told him to take it out and he did.  She told him it's his dog, his waste and to put it in his own trash. He said he didn't want it to smell his container - and she said "but you think others do".  There are more than a few dog owners in this community making it bad for those that do the right thing.  Ppl and their dogs are a common complaint in our HOA newsletter - mostly about not cleaning up after their own dog and it'll soon stop bc as you say, many more installing security cameras.

Re: What's Wrong With Some People

If my trash bins are out and someone wants to throw their dog poop in it that they picked up while they walked the dog, I couldn't care less.  They are free to do that.  I'd rather they pick it up and toss it in my trash then not pick it up.
