What is wrong with florals after 40?

Last week on the Today show there was a "stylist" on showing age appropriate stylish clothing. Anyway, she said that those over 40 should not wear floral.

Don't ask who this stylist was, I'd never seen her before.

So, is it acceptable to wear floral after 40?
