@Luvitorleaveit1 wrote:Last year when the pandemic started I was driving in twice a week to Manhattan-25-30 minutes it was wonderful, but now I drive in one day a week or every other week and the traffic is horrendous....I think I heard "New York is a ghost town".....I sure would like to know where if I am in traffic for an hour or more now.
The only one's saying NYC is a ghost town are those who don't live here and have no idea what's going on.

So for the last year I am the one who does everything for her. So I am doing
more shopping, picking up prescriptions, running her to appointments, etc.
It is stressful but she knows who does everything for her while other family
just comes around to sit and chat.
I can relate--been there, done that-----When my mom started experiencing health issues I helped her and ran errands for her and paid her bills from my own funds.....Meanwhile siblings just went about their own lives ....but as my Great Aunt told me, you will have no regrets since you helped your mom and spent extra time with her. She said the others would someday have a stirring of their conscience....which they did after my mom passed, while as predicted, I have no regrets and appreciate the extra time I got to spend with her ...So remember those wise words from my Great Aunt!

Interesting Question---
A better attitude of gratitude!
1. In-person contact with those friends/family members we like and love is appreciated more! ....(texting and zoom meetings arent quite the same....JMHO)
2. I no longer take for granted things like toilet paper and ample and well stocked food supplies.....WE ARE INDEED BLESSED!
3. Seeing people go out of their way to help others, even strangers----

There has been so much sadness and loss this past year, so I feel guilty that as an introvert, I have really enjoyed being home and having a good excuse not to get together with people. It takes so much energy for me to get prepared for a social gathering, so afterward it's like I can finally relax again. I don't mind going to the grocery store and chatting with the cashier because I know it's just for a few minutes. Plus the masks make it so people don't recognize me so much, so I don't mind wearing them. And I don't think I want people breathing on me again! haha
I have spent more time with my teenagers because they were doing school virtually, so that was a plus. (Not for them I'm sure, but I enjoyed having lunch with them.
)
Basically, as an introvert, I've had a good year in that respect. But I am so sorry for those of you who have lost your loved ones. My uncomfortableness with people cannot compare to the pain you have gone though.

My savings account! I find I do not spend as much money as I did before. That coupled with stimulus money has made my bank account the highest it has ever been even though I am donating more now.

I think my complexion is better now than it ever has been in a very long time. Probably b/c I'm not wearing much makeup these days and then having to wash that stuff off with cleansers which seem to dry my skin out a bit. Skin looks and feels healthier overall.

I have enjoyed not having to be around certain people because of the pandemic. Others, I have sorely missed. Going forward, I will continue to not be around certain others, I've realized life is just too short to waste my time.
Others, I am looking forward to getting back to spending more time with.

It is beyond wonderful to see family and friends who are vaccinated. Found a level of pleasure there I never knew.
Finally content with no stores, travel or eating out. Ordering is me.
A treasure to find some things open now only for vaccinated, like hair and yoga.
As more are vaccinated I hope more things open with vaccine restrictions.

Also, I take more precautions and continuing those steps and they are now part of my routine.
I also read and research more, before I just took the reporters word for what they wrote, now I read various different articles on any given subject.
Everything is "better" because I made it better not because of any outside sources.
Agree! Stocked up on masks because I expect there will be another pandemic in my lifetime (I'm 71). No longer feel guilty about not shaking someone's hand when it's offered. No longer feel guilty keeping "social distance" which I did even before this virus started. More aware of my surroundings and wash my hands more frequently.

What I really love is now I know I can buy many groceries and drugstore items online so I do not have to go to the store as often for most things and grocery shopping is only for fresh meats and vegetables and a few other things. I have always hated grocery shopping and in store shopping. I also have found that I am in touch with friends by phone on a regular basis now so no more quick texts trying to arrange time to get together! I really hope that restaurants will not jam customers in they way some did anymore. I will not go to a crowded restaurant now where no one can really move or have real conversations because of the crowds.
