We had the very first indoor mall...MIdtown Plaza.  Absolutely gorgeous with 2 levels and 3 major department stores plus resturants and many small shops.  All gone now.  So so so sad.  A dead era...only good memories left.

I miss Sears the most.  I loved their Kenmore appliances.

not just 1 store.. but i miss malls in general.. i loved when you were able to walk through a mall and have 5,6, 7  clothing stores to go into.. now most malls in my area are down to a few stores in my malls.. and most look like they are ready to close down.. its a sad. sad time. not like it was 5 or 6 years ago

@azgal- I miss Mervyns also.  Especially their month end sales on a Friday, the prices were awesome.  Do you remember Gemco.

I'm in So. Cal. and Gemco was one store I could always count on to find what I was looking for.

I am going to miss Bed, Bath & Beyond.  I got ideas on gadgets there, compared cookware and linens.  Of course, I am not purchasing as much household stuff as previously.  

I miss the Lands End department at Sears.  Favorite swimwear and t-shjrts.

This wasn't really a "store" but a restaurant in town called Ruby's---it was a diner  with wonderful plain ole American food--good prices tasty food--breakfast, lunch and dinner, and good portions for the $$. We ate there all the time and still mourn it's closing--been probably 15 years ago---

I miss our big downtown department stores Higbees, Halles, May Company, Sterling Lindner Davis.

I loved B.Altmans & Gimbels -- worked at both stores. I also shopped Bonwits and Lord and Taylor's and enjoyed having lunch at the Bird Cage too. Retail will never be the same again.Even Macys was so much nicer years ago.My mom would take me to see Santa at Macys.Such nice memories.
