Dr. Oz is an excellent surgeon and knows his field. He has said repeatedly that he does not own stock in any of the products that are discussed on his show. I think he believes that there is validity in a variety of approaches and techniques to better health, and as such, he opens his show to alternative ideas. I have heard him tell certain guests that he does not agree with them and he'd like to wait for stats on their approaches. As a doctor, I think he doesn't rule anything out if it could turn an unhealthy condition around. How is believing in the help of angels or angels who walk among us any less valid than believing in a deity to turn things around?

He needs to change his name from Dr. Oz to DR. ODD.
Can't stand him, and would never take any of his recommendations to heart. That's why I have my own doctor that I like and trust.

I think he provides information to people that should always be further investigated....for example...if he says a certain herb or supplement is good for lower BP and you do not have high BP why would you take it?....also...wouldn't you ask your own doctor 1st if you did need BP medication and if a supplement might work 1st before tkaing a prescript?...another perfect example is Andrew Leesman and all the stuff he claims a person needs or should take.
The problem is not Dr. Oz....the problem is people in general think supplments and herbal treatments are safe when the truth is they have many side effects that can be harmful and even dangerous and some can cause major interference and interactions with other medications/supplements.
There is a whole world of natural types of treatments for everything that can possibly ail a person but if you do not have anything ailing you why take it?.....very few herbs or supplements are truly preventative medicine....and too many of these in my opinion are harmful/toxic in the body...your liver works overtime to clean out the excess your body doesn't need...why make it work even harder?

You make a good point straykatz. One thing I like very much about Dr Oz is he recently said that if you are going to take a multi vitamin make sure it's NOT a mega vitamin. Also, he said one should get their calcium from food sources only and not take a supplement. He also said that we should take 1000 units of Vit D3 which was the exact amount my Gyn's PA told me to take when I had my blood work done a couple years ago. Also, he recently talked about Vit K2 because he said it transports the calcium from the veins and organs to the bones where it belongs. Those calcium supplements don't include Vit K2. You get Vit K1 from leafy greens but Vit K2 primarily from meat. So....I found that very helpful.

I believe Oz repeatedly says to check with your doctor before you try any of the things he discusses. He does NOT get kickbacks from any of the things he brings in. In fact, most of the time I don't hear brand names, only compound names. For instance, Garcinia Cambogia is a natural fruit grown in certain regions of the world. The chemical compound comes from the rind of that fruit. It has been shown in tests to lower blood sugar and help drop weight. There are all kinds of companies who put this product out, but unless the main ingredient makes up 60% of the compound and there are no calcium or other unneeded fillers, the compound won't do what it claims to do. You have to research consumer information on these to make sure. In addition, consumer reports on Garcinia all indicate that no one should take it without permission from their doctor and a drug interaction check. Doctor Oz says the same thing, and he tries the supplements himself.

This segment went on for about 10 minutes talking about how everyone's poop looked in clay..... I almost wonder if he does this subject because it was a favorite subject of the Great Queen Oprah..... she loved taking about poop and her Va Jay Jay.....
Oh!! I wondered why South Park did that episode where her butt and her lady parts talk to each other. It all makes sense now.

Since I tape Dr Oz everyday, I can tell you that episode was with Cameron Diaz who came out with a new book called The Body Book and SHE was talking about poo that day with Dr Oz and his audience and she described what hers looked like.

You mean models and actresses poop too?
Hard to believe.
