I'm trying to switch from focusing on the DOW to the S&P. A much broader representation of the market and the valuations.

Energy s*cks right now.

Health funds still riding high.

Emerging Markets seem to be on the upswing.

We rely on our own research and instincts.

Those are my thoughts too. If I lose money I'd rather it was a misstep I made rather than one I paid someone to make for me.

As to the S&P, the management costs are much lower than those for mutual funds which can be 2%. That adds up to quite a sum over time.

My gal told me there would be a big correction......I just don't like it when I see it.

and no one cares about your money as much as you do. It is becoming easier with the web to do your own research.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.
