I don't understand why people start a new thread asking why the previous thread was deleted?

The mods have made it very clear not to question them.

I know they remove posts for various reasons like political or unkind etc. but I've never seen 'challenging moderation' as a reason and seriously don't know what that means.   They just didn't like it?   They thought it was extreme?   I saw nothing in OP's post that would call for the whole post to be removed.  Just trying to figure out why they did it and what 'challenging moderation' means.   It didn't say 'challenging the Moderator".

@Bridgegal

in a nutshell......

once one of your threads has been removed and given a reason for the removal (political, religious, baiting, and so on.....) it is really not to be questioned. those moderating the boards have given you the reason for removal.

if you begin ANOTHER thread about WHY the original thread was removed and ask questions or continue on with the same subject, then THAT "is challenging moderation." a poster really doesnt have the right on this board to question why their thread was removed.

they made a decision and the poster of the thread has to accept it. if you dont and start it back up again you are challenging moderation and that thread will also be deleted. if you persist, then you may risk being banned.

@sunshine45- Does this mean this current thread is challenging moderation since the OP is asking why the original thread was removed?  Or perhaps not since it's just a general question and the content of the original removed thread was not mentioned.  Just trying to understand.  Smiley Happy

@San Antonio Gal

i am referring to two particular threads that were around the past 2 days. the second thread DID mention the original content of the first thread and continued from there with others responding. the content of the original thread was labeled as to why it was removed. the subsequent second thread questioning the removal was then labeled "challenging moderation" and then removed. the original poster of both threads was advised by a few to send her question to the mods via an email. she did not want to do that because she was afraid she would be "banned."

hope that makes it a bit clearer.

            @sunshine45, Great explanations, and very helpful.   It's rather complicated, I feel.    I understand the Standards say:  "We reserve the right in our discretion to delete postings or threads that we deem in violation of these guidelines or otherwise unacceptable to us.  We further reserve the right in our discretion to suspend or remove the privileges of users who violate these guidelines... "

            Also, by using the forums we agree to abide by the standards (and the additional guidelines posted in the "Welcome Get Started" forum), and after reading here for a while we learn about certain types of content that aren't permitted (such as coupon codes, links to retail sites, etc.).    I think publicly challenging their decisions is problematic.    I have to confess that I do it from time to time, yet I try to do so in hopes we can be better educated in what's expected of us so we can be more compliant.

            The explanations from the QVC Social Team actually make their job of moderating easier...  the more we understand, the less we step outside the boundaries and the less they have to read and remove.    The moderators have responsibilities far beyond just trying to oversee the thousands of daily posts, so the follow-up "why was the post/thread removed" comments seem to be best left to a simple and courteous email message.    They've always been kind enough to reply when I've written to them.

I like it!

But I always heard it as "don't poke the bear."

@Bridgegal. Its a no no to argue with or question a mod as to the reason a post has been removed.  If you have a post zapped, just move on and keep your mouth shut.  You DON'T CHALLENGE what they do.

I think this topic coming from a long time forum member is a bit cynical.

If you keep challenging the mods they will give you a time out.

Wow, why so many snarky remarks about the OP's question? I had no clue what that meant either. Geez.

@ID2

Yeah, wow is right. What is with all the "snarky" comments? The OP seemed to really want to understand what it meant. Geez - give the girl a break!

@ID2. I haven't read a single snarky remark.  A lot of prople have patiently tried to explain to the OP what should have been obvious.
