I think folks who work at fast food restaurants have a script which they go by no matter what the customer has already stated.

They're usually just kids or someone working hard to put a meal on their table.
And all for minimum wage. Let's give them a break, they don't deserve someone's ire just because they're saying what they're told to say.

I get a kick out of the grocery clerk asking if I found everything I wanted. If I reply that I couldn't find something, there's no offer to get another employee to find it for me or even say what aisle it would be on because they don't know either.
I think it is funny that they ask only to shrug my answer off with a half-baked apology. They're doing their job best they can, I don't fault them personally.

While I worked every job at drive-in restaurants I am not one that does the drive-thru thing.

No, it doesn't bother me if they ask would I like something else. They're just trying to make a sale. What I do find somewhat unusual is that you say "that is all" at the end of giving your order. I just tell them what I want. Those intercoms aren't all that clear so they may not hear exactly what it is you're saying at the end.

Oh my goodness! This is an exact thing I have with one grocery store. They ALL will ask you if you found everything. In the several cases when I was unable to find everything I was seeking that day I have said 'no, I didn't'. What happens next? Nothing - nada. They don't say a single thing or offer any assistance. It's just so bizarre to me.
So, one day after that little part I asked 'why do they always ask if you found everything and then, when you say no, they don't say another word?'. What happened next? Nothing - nada. I have to laugh when I think about it because it's so strange to me.
Before some snarkmonster tells me to just not go there, I will say that I go to that one seldom because I don't like it for a few other reasons as well. But when I have to rush in and out, to get just one or two things, I sometimes stop there because it's never busy. I don't like crowds and I have physical challenges, so I know I can usually be in and out of there very quickly.

Public service people have scripts they learn in training. If they do not ask certain things and it is reported, they could be reprimanded or lose their job.
I am not irritated if someone tries to get me to purchase more than I intended.
