From KOMO news:

KING COUNTY, Wash. -- A man has died from the coronavirus in King County, the Washington state Department of Health said Saturday in a media advisory.

No other details were given about the death as of Saturday morning.

Officials plan to hold a press conference at 1 p.m. with more details. KOMO will livestream the press conference.

Gov. Jay Inslee released the following statement:

"It is a sad day in our state as we learn that a Washingtonian has died from COVID-19. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. We will continue to work toward a day where no one dies from this virus.

"In partnership with the Washington State Department of Health, the Washington State Department of Emergency Management and local and community health partners, we are strengthening our preparedness and response efforts. I am committed to keeping Washingtonians healthy, safe and informed."

The Department of Health announced Friday evening two presumably new cases of coronavirus, including a school-aged student in Snohomish County.

The department said the results from the individuals' tests came back "preemptively positive," but are pending official confirmation from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.

A student from Jackson High School in Mill Creek with no travel history is one of the people infected with the COVID-19 virus. The student started feeling ill Monday with body aches, chills and a headache, the department said. Health officials said the student returned to school when he started feeling better, before results Friday revealed the child was sick with coronavirus.

Everett Public Schools said in a tweet Friday evening Jackson High School will be closed March 2 for three days to disinfect the campus.

The other presumed positive coronavirus test was a woman in her 50s from King County. Health officials said the woman traveled to Daegu, South Korea Feb. 7-23 and returned to Seattle to work Monday before she felt symptoms Tuesday. She reported her symptoms to health officials Wednesday and was tested for the virus Thursday.

Her results came back positive Friday.

Health officials said she is improving without any complications. The woman has not been in public since her symptoms started, the department said, and her husband is under home quarantine.

More resources on the coronavirus can be found here.

This story is breaking. More information will be updated when it becomes available.

No.  I wish the government cared as much about keeping our water supply free of chemical waste and our air clean enough for our lungs to breathe and our food supplies grown w/o deadly chemical contaminants.  No wonder people get sick.

@JaneMarple

Your story about your kids texting is still rumbling through my head.
At the end of the day, just trying to be the healthiest one can be

can be the difference between sick/not sick.  Keep us posted.

I will be honest and say that I have manic depression, severe anxiety, etc....so I have mental issues that I battle on a daily basis. This coronavirus has me a nervous wreck. I'm so scared something bad is going to happen and there will be nothing we can do!!!

I did order tha N95 respirators (pack of 10) a while back & paid $30. I know the CDC said you don't really need one, but I actually don't even think they know what is going on with this virus :-( It's just beyond frightening to me.

I truly hope someone can get to the bottom of this virus and we can get some answers!!

Oh @BrandiDavis, I hate this for you and this is one of the reasons I have little patience for people that start posting or spreading all kinds of stuff related to conspiracy theories and just off the wall stuff.   I had a very good friend whose mother was quite a bit like you describe and know it was horrible for her when certain things like SARS and Ebola came along.

First of all, try to put everything in perspective and always evaluate your own personal risks.  Try to avoid all the craziness that surrounds this issue, but still stay informed.

Don't be surprised if numbers of cases in the US increase, it is what would be expected.  But that doesn't necessarily mean it is anymore of a direct threat for you.

I would encourage you to start practicing keeping your hands away from your face.  Start paying attention to how many times you reach up to rub your eye, your nose, or touch your mouth with your hands.

Practice good hand washing.  Lather those hands up and scrub for a miniumum of 20 seconds or sing happy birthday twice before rinsing your hands.  You can also carry hand sanitizer with you to use when you are out and can't wash your hands.

Those are 2 of the most important things you can do to protect yourself right now and will also protect you from other cold and flu viruses at the same time.  So you get more bang for your effort!!!

I do know when your anxiety level is so high, it is not practical to say ignore the news.  So instead, make a commitment to get your news from the cdc website.  If you have specific questions about your area, your local health department should have a website with information.  Concentrate on those sources.

In the meantime, keep taking care of yourself.  Take this time to do some things that you like to do that also help you relax.  You know what those things are, so make an effort to increase the time you spend doing some of those things.

Sending best wishes to you!  Heart

The Governor revised the statement and didn't identify the gender. It was reported earlier it was a woman in her 50's who was in high risk. Maybe we should get it correct before it is reported.

@pitdakota  Thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate that. You are so right. I am going to only get info from the CDC from now on (if any at all)...and stop reading the threads here, b/c it's just making me so nervous. I used to be able to log in here and read threads and enjoy my time here, now it's like there are so many threads about this virus, its daunting to be here.

Again, thanks for reaching out and even responding to me. I hope you have a great night!
