I buy every year for hurricane prep, so it's no different this year.

What do I think? I think people are starting to get a little nuts over it at this point in time.

Even in China, people under quarantine are able to buy necessities. If any of us get stuck in our homes, we'll be able to order what we need. And if we get sick and are being treated in a hosptial, they will have food there and other things that are needed.

Where I live in TN, mass runs on stores can be an issue. When the forecast says it might snowstorm, people react like Snowmageddon is nigh and wipe out entire categories of items. So I hope people remain calm.

I did succumb to worry and looked into buying two of those N95 masks from a local car parts store, and they were out. People have already bought up all the stock. I just have my big box of ineffective little dust masks I use for dusting. And I already had a big stock of disinfecting wipes, since that's what I use for cleaning the countertops.

No, not really.  It's not even a concern.

I've always kept a well stocked larder and as of late have allowed it to dwindle but I think it's time to restock to prevent extra trips to the store.  Common sense.

I'll be honest and say that I don't know what to think concerning this virus. I live in very heavy tourist area and ti accommodate the tourists, thousands of foreign students come to work here several months of the year. Not to mention visitors from all over the globe as well. Next month will begin the season up until late Autumn.

No, not yet.  But I, like everyone else, am watching very closely and am ready to stock up on groceries and stuff if we need to.

I DID buy extra water at the grocery store today. That won't go to waste.

We are always stocked with batteries and flameless candles and we have a few lanterns and regular candles. I have external chargers for my phone and iPad. We also have an "old fashioned" radio that runs on batteries.

If,  heaven forbid, they start talking about cancelling schools and telling people we have to stay home and it's a crisis situation, I will definitely stock up on more food. Easy to prepare foods.

Things I do every day, when no potential crisis is near,  in addition to what I listed above, is keep cash on hand, gas in the car and I refill prescription meds as soon as our insurance will let us refill.

I remember in 2014 when we had a major snow event in Atlanta.  We knew it was coming. It wasn't an iffy forecast.  Cars were literally abandoned in the streets.  People taking hours to get home. People walking for hours.

The very next morning, I logged into Facebook and went to a local page. Already, right out of the gate, someone was questioning whether the grocery stores were open and also lamenting that she wouldn't be able to get out of her neighborhood. She was totally out of baby formula. Totally out. With a huge storm coming. Warned plenty ahead. Time to prepare.  And it wasn't a financial issue.  It was just a she didn't bother to prepare issue.  I have zero patience for things like that.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

No at least not at this time. I have anxiety in normal circumstances and hearing about this virus all over the news and everywhere,  is causing me a great deal of anxiety! I try not to listen but want to be informed.  I am a germaphobe too. All of this virus stuff is scary.

No.  We are always ready should any disaster happen.  We use and replenish as we go along.

A go-bag with clothes and basic necessities is always ready, too, in the house as well as a smaller one in the car.

We really do not stray far from home but the car is habit from living all those years in the Northeast.

The only thing that can get tricky is prescription meds.

  Yes, I take this seriously.

No, I'm not loading up on supplies.

I'm also tired of overwrought speculation and the lack of perspective associated with reports on this virus.
