I am not a great sleeper. I wish I could enjoy long nights but I'm an early riser. We go to bed between 9:00-10:00PM and I'm up before the birds. I enjoy my quiet dark mornings but I know I should be sleeping at that time. I take a magnesium blend at bedtime and wear an eye mask to block out all the light, but if I need to get up to use the restroom all bets are off.

I lay in bed, close my eyes, and instead of counting sheep, I try go recall things like teachers names from kindergarten to junior high, or friend's names from grade school, stuff like that. Works for me.

Sometimes if I wake up in the middle of the night and I do not want to take p.m. med's I put on a youtube video by "ASMR Hair & Beauty by Katherina." Watching her do hair, makeup and shoulder massages as my eyes getting heavy, even during the daytime. Very relaxing and there are many of these type channels on youtube for helping sleep to come easily.

I stay up until I think I can go to sleep. I was going to bed around midnight. Now I'm going to bed by 2.
DH rubs my back with one of those gun massagers so I fall asleep in a matter of minutes.

Falling asleep and staying asleep is not usually a problem for me. I don't eat after 6, and stop using my iPad at 9. However, I've always thought the real key to my ability to sleep is my bedroom, and the fact my body knows that is where I go to sleep. My room is very dark and cool, perfect for sleeping. There is no TV, no radio, no clock, no lamps, no chairs, nothing on the walls, so my sole purpose of being in that room is to sleep. As soon as I get in bed and turn over on my stomach, I am out.
