Playing the piano. Everything from sharing the bench with one of my friends and we played Heart & Soul to playing popular songs that they would sing along to. Especially at Christmas time, I would play Christmas Carols and my family would gather around, also. Now my kids play their own instruments but I still remember fondly those days long gone.

I loved walking to the library and reading a few books a week. I remember taking out a book numerous times "The Make It Book." I was obsessed with sewing and creative things. Reading took me into a world very different than the one I was actually living.

I enjoyed my summers because there was no school. I remember going to the local swimming pool located in a park. There were changing rooms and lockers to keep your clothes and towels. It was fun.

The pond we could walk to. Swimming in the summer ice skating in the winter. My bike when I finally learned to ride it. Having my own room. We were all very fortunate to have grown up in Greenwood.

Toys - Barbie and all her accessories
Books - Nancy Drew mysteries
Activities - running up the barn hill and jumping off the edge - sledding down it too.

As a child I used to love to jump rope, roller skate, take long walks through the neighborhood and play with my friends. I was a city girl and always loved going to Manhattan with my mom and sister on the train. I also loved to read, still do. It was a simple carefree childhood, one that holds dear memories for me.

I loved riding my bike and my horse.
I spent a lot of hours in my playhouse and in warm weather the sandbox with play dishes.
On Saturday, I packed up and went to my grandparents in town. I would stay with them in their large store until 5:30 close, (I could go around and spend my 50 cents allowance), then we would go across the street to S & W cafeteria for roast beef. We'd go home and watch Lawrence Welk and the Lennon Sisters.

I really liked _Flash Gordon_ reruns as a kid--once in a while I was allowed to watch them, but our family got a TV late, one TV (they cost a fortune then) and the family watched by vote.
Most of my sibs liked "Howdy Doody," which aired at the same time, and I didn't hate it, but they often cut me a break.
On TCM ( I think it was TCM) I recently saw a brief segment of a few "Flash Gordons, " and my goodness, they still totally involved me. I'm just a science fiction fan, I guess (and still am).
Family stuff? I liked it all. I lucked out, and we were pretty compatible for a large group: swimming at nearby ponds or the not too distant oceans, cooking fudge once in a while in the kitchen, helping to paint the barn, taking care of the critters (my family were addicted to animal rescues).

Oh! You caused me to remember how I found my mother's old Nancy Drew books on a book shelf in one grandparent's den! I read them from cover to cover and couldn't put them down!
After that, as a 6th grader, I devoured the school library!
