Maybe someone(s) here have answers!

In the newest "Liberty Mutual" commercial, the human guy is fishing,   and up comes a submarine with "Minions" popping out the top. 

One "Minion" spits out something at the Fisherman. 

(I'm not familiar with the Minion movies or culture.. but I only know "Minions" a teeny bit, from mention in the "Lesson Plans"  in the Sunday School class I teach 1x/month.)

Question:   What is it that the "Minion"  spits out at the Fisherman?

.. and what is it's significance, if any?

I'm still trying to "get" that commercial.

I think it is the fishing hook, line and sinker the Minion spits back out at the fisherman.

The commercial is using a play on word 'minnow' and the word 'minion'. Minnows are a common form of freshwater fish. The minion is spitting out the fish hook from the fisherman's fishing pole because the fisherman had just caught hm and his minion friends just like he would a minnow. That is why the fisherman says "the minions are biting today" just like he would if he was fishing for minnows and he had caught one.

They put too much effort and not enough thought into commercials.  If I have to spend time trying to figure out what the antics mean, I don't bother.  A commercial shouldn't be THAT hard to figure out.

All I know is that they need to stop with the "only pay for what you need".

Other than what the state requirements are, insurance companies can't force you to buy extra coverages.

@TwinkleBell     Kevin is the Minion who spits out the fishing tackle.

Kevin starred in Despicable Me 2.

He is the only Minion to be knighted by the British Empire. He had a crush on Scarlet Overkill. 

A new Minion movie premieres June 30th.

ALL of the Liberty Mutual commercials are LAME. LOVE and USE the MUTE feature on my remote as soon as they appear on my tv.

It's a tie-in to the new movie Minions- the Rise of Gru.  It's part of the Despicable Me movie franchise.

Instead of hooking a fish, the fisherman hooked the Minion's sub.
