We feed our dog (big Golden Retriever, 85#-89# depending on the season) Nature's Domain. It's grain free and a private label for Costco. It's my understanding that it's privately packaged Taste of the Wild. He gets only 3 cups daily, split between two feedings. He eagerly eats it and is doing great on it. It runs about $30 or so for a 30# bag. The options at the warehouse are Beef, Salmon, and Turkey. There is an organic version available online, but it's much more expensive $50/30 lbs.

I'll second that recommendation for the dogfoodadvisor website. Very interesting and helpful.
My dog gets Merrick kibble with 2T homemade turkey or chicken and vegetables mixed in. I alternate with Taste of the Wild.
Foods need to be aligned with the AAFCO recommendations to be considered nutritionally complete. I went to a presentation by a vet about pet nutrition. He says there is nothing wrong with grains in dog food unless the dog has an allergic reaction to them.
We are fortunate to have so many good food options available for our pets.

I had 3 chihuahuas, lost the oldest Mr. Leo (15 yrs. old) a few months ago, now have 2, Miss Shad-O 14 yrs. old and Mr. Oreo 10 yrs. old and they love kibbles and bits. My son who works at a vets office told me it was not a good choice and he brought them some expensive healthy food that they just wouldn't eat so back to kibbles and bits.

Most dogs fair better on carnivore grain free diets even if no obvious allergy problems. Also it is best to feed several types of kibble in case of recalls or unavailability of food you are feeding so there will be no issues when having to switch due to not being able to get what your dog is currently eating.

I feed Wellness and have for many years. Blue Buffalo is good, too, but my dog didn't seem to like it as well as the Wellness.
