It's not uneven moderation. It "uneven" (if you must) commentary. As long as people continue to push the envelope as to just what they can "sneak in" to a conversation, and as long as people take the bait, posts will be deleted. People deliberately trying to get threads deleted was routine on the old forums. People are going to keep trying here. The way to keep threads viable is to not respond to the baiting and to report it.
I hope you're not suggesting that I am baiting here....or trying to get this thread taken down. Quite the opposite. I just want the mods to do this same type of surgical deleting to other current events or controversial subject threads so they can remain up and the conversation can continue.

However............I can't understand how this controversial "current event" discussion is allowed here when others, even less controversial or political, are quickly deleted.
If you're going to have standards, you should at least enforce them evenly. My vote would be for more liberal standards.......but if that's not in the cards.......at least try to enforce the rules more evenly.
Controversial topics will be removed – Discussions of a controversial or confrontational nature will be removed at our discretion. The following are examples of topics that generally create a negative dialogue between Community members which will result in removal of the discussion and possible banning: current events, politics, religious beliefs, and unkind comments about hosts, vendors, models, or employees.
It does say at their discretion. Their sandbox, their rules.

My opinion: I believe you are born gay or straight. I think there should be a civil ceremony with all legal rights as a traditional marriage. I believe that marriage is a religious ceremony between a man and a woman. What I disagree with is forcing a marriage which... is against religion to be forced on all of America. I also disagree that the Supreme Court has the right to say States can not decide what is legal if their citizens are against gay marriage. I am also against forcing Church's to provide these ceremonies against their will...which I suspect is coming.
I had neighbors growing up who were two wonderful women. One became ill after over 35 years of a relationship and died. Her family came in and took all of her personal items and 1/2 of the estate...I find that wrong. This is why I believe in a Civil Ceremony.

In my little corner of the world there is nothing controversial about freedom and equality. Rejoicing when these two things are finally recognized is appropriate and acceptable. Anything other than that is superfluous and most of us know that.

I'm actually fianlly starting to feel a little better about this country again now. Almost like in 2008 before all the hatred followed. But today...

Croemer, a civil ceremony grants NONE of the protections you would like for those couples like your friends.
A marriage in America is a legal contract with the State, it does not require ANY religious involvement.
Just the facts ![]()

I suggest that people just don't take the bait and ignore them. The mods made it clear what was acceptable. They know the risk.
