This has become more than ridiculous.  If someone wants to start a thread celebrating defeat do it but please don't keep trying to turn this thread celebrating a win into a debate.   If you want to debate the ruling then start a debate thread and debate.

Marp, it's odd... one was started several minutes ago, but only 4 replies.  I guess no one is disappointed any more?

Let's stay on track here and be cool.

It's clear there is dissatisfaction with the intent of this thread and it's also clear there is a concerted effort to take it down.

It's nothing but a silly game.

Really, Beth?  I've defended the moderators on this board, and you've allowed people to scold you and your cohorts' decisions like you were imbecilic children.  You mentioned that the board was supposed to be in the spirit of celebration, but you allowed nonsensical intereference to block just that.  I am a proud, gay man trying to keep the peace on the biggest day of my life on a network I support and adore.  Thank you for reminding me that my people have a long way to go.  You have a lovely evening.  Thank you for ruining mine.

Peter, don't let the naysayers ruin your day. Think of all those here who support you, who are ecstatic over today's ruling. Some of us have also fought for years for this day, and the majority of Americans also support the decision.

Peter,

Don't let it get to you, please.

This is a joyous day and few troublemakers cannot and will not spoil it.

The vast majority of us are celebrating right along with you.  Hang in there, man. I like what you post.

PeterDM - Don't let them, mods or otherwise, diminish your joy in any way.  Today's ruling is WAAAAAY bigger than this little community board.

Remember, keep it celebratory!  I'll celebrate with you.  And I wish my brother was still here to see this day and celebrate too. Be your proud gay man self.  I'm a proud straight woman, LOL!

I'm so pleased to see this thread still here, and bait having been refused.

The problem for some is they are not comprehending that Viewpoints is no more. "Debate", while the norm on the old forum, has been pretty clearly stated to be undesirable on the new forum. Any attempt to turn a thread in the direction of a political, legal or religious debate is no longer going to fly.

It's not *impossible* to state an opposing viewpoint on this thread, but that's about it. The thread is "I'm so happy about A!" Some can (and has) stated "Well I'm NOT happy about A!" But beyond that, things get difficult. If any further posts about why a poster is not happy about A mention the judiciary, politics, law or religion, they automatically have the potential to be deleted. No need to be surprised if they are.

Those who are "happy about A" have in large part been able to state why *without* discussing politics, religion, elections, etc.

The "rules" of discussion on the boards are clear. Quit trying to test them and bend them and posts are usually left alone. Become annoyed that the rules exist and "fight back" against the mods and - you can't win. Guess that hasn't become clear enough yet.

Within this thread I feel kudos are due to the mods who have pruned it pretty delicately compared to what might have happened. It seems to me have tried very hard to let this thread, as a celebratory thread (all it was intended to be) stand, and I thank them.

Yes it is refreshing not to be harrassed, there are people, like myself who don't think this is a 'good thing', lol.
