It has become very popular. Reason being the hilarious Smudge the Cat memes. He's sitting at a table in a restaurant with a plate of salad. Karen is something like a former girlfriend. Karen is evidently in the restaurant and has spotted Smudge so she starts yelling accusations and pointing at him. She is a very pretty blond. He looks bored and responds with the funniest one-liners you can imagine. So clever, I actually laugh out loud. That's why you see references to Karen herself or being a Karen, all the time these days. Look for them online if you want to laugh your head off.

I have to confess I posted a "Karen" cartoon today, right before I saw this thread.  My apologies to any real-life Karens, no offense meant.

That might be the "official definition," but the "middle-aged" component doesn't reflect reality. And "Boomers" lol? Not by a long shot.

The overwhelming majority of "Karens" (and "Beckys") referenced by the media in incidents are younger women, including the one involved in the most recent Central Park dog flap. Even memes don't reflect that they're middle-aged or Boomers.

So I'm calling a big, fat BS on that.

I am Karen, and it does NOT bother me in the least!  I enjoy fb friends who tag me over and over in diff "Karen" memes!  It has always been my name, and this has brought attention to my name!  This will pass in a NY minute!!

I hear you. As someone who's been told her whole life, at parties, family dinners, and every holiday meal that the big rotating thing in the middle of the table is called a Lazy Susan I guess I don't have all that much sympathy. Lazy Susans won't pass in a NY minute but I'll survive.  It's just a name, lol.

Karen was a popular boomer baby name.  I only know older Karens.

@AuntG  So funny.  Doesn’t every office have one?  Every potluck, Christmas party, birthday celebration, retirement, one lady would bring 1.00 bag of pretzels or cheese balls.  

Same person that brought their own take out containers to take leftovers to feed her, husband and kids.  Many would bring $20 purchased food or a dish that cost $20 to make.  Not bad to get several meals for a buck. Would drive me crazy.  The brownie lady wouldn’t even frost them?
