Re: What Happened to Hummers?

@ValuSkrwrote:

Every year there's a thread started by someone whose hummingbirds are late or have gone missing.

Nope.  This is about Hummel Figurines.

Q4U, I am also an antique dealer and have found the same thing.  Glassware, Beanie Babies, Hummels, pottery, even furniture, have all taken large drops.  I think the availability on Ebay and the recession did them in.  One other thing, young people are not interested in collecting, they'd rather play with their phones.

Wasn't there a group who marched in a parade, wore great colorful outfits, and bango players?  I thought they were Hummers.  On second thought, were they Mummers?

Re: What Happened to Hummers?

we have a local antique store called THE BOWERY in baltimore. last week they were having a 50% off sale on all hummels. if anyone is trying to find a home for their hummels, maybe you could contact them?

I agree!  Not only eBay and the recession but copycat Chinese stuff (think HomeGoods) like primitive wood items made out of a poly resin for $9.95!  Or copycat Graniteware/Enamelware also made in China (European Enamelware was my specialty), but why spend $150 on an English Bread Bin when you can buy a look-alike for $45.....

I sell on eBay now and only an occasional antique piece..... Woman Frustrated

About a year ago there was someone researching how to get rid of Hummels. What did she decide? FYI I still love mine.

I think it's because they are to heavy and draw on alot of fuel.
