Re: What Good Books (or not so good) Have You Read Lately (or not so lately)?

Daughter of the Queen of Sheba, by Jacki Lyden. I first read this book 4 years ago and have read it every summer since, it's a classic. It's Jacki Lyden's memoirs of her relationship with her mother. This is a very easy and emotional read, I usually drink wine and cry reading this book.

I have ANOTHER book going I forgot about -

"Good Talk, Dad" by Bill and Willie Geist.

A cute, funny, light summer read!

I love the Geists - father and son.

If you have not read any Donna Tartt books -- they are great. The Secret History is the best!

I just ordered:

Product Details

It's a documented account of all we know about the historicity of Jesus, written by a highly accredited scholar and theologian.

That was really well done, wasn't it ?

He's an excellent writer.

I found 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks' on a discount shelf one afternoon last week.

Read it cover to cover in one sitting, finished around 4 AM.

I have to say that that was one of the best books I've ever read.

PD...thanks for suggesting that. I enjoyed The Goldfinch very much and will add this earlier one to my list.
