What Do You Think This Statement Means?

The tag line on a disinfecting wipe I just saw said, "helps kill the germs that live on surfaces for up to 48 hours."

Do you think this means it kills germs that can live on surfaces for 48 hours or did they mean it kills germs on surfaces for up to 48 hours?

No wonder so many kids today can't put an understandable sentence together when advertisers have no understanding of sentence structure--unless they are intentionally trying to obfuscate or mislead.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.
