Re: What Are You Reading --- September 2014

SAgal If you want to read an excellent book, read Defending Jacob, by William Landry. I think this book and The House We Grew Up In are my two favorites in the past 2 years. If you do read it, let me know your thoughts. It is a book unlike anything I have ever read and is dark like your recommendation, only darker!

I read Murder With Peacocks by Donna Andrews. I also read Delirious by Daniel Palmer which was a pretty good thriller. I would try more books by him. I think he might be the son of Michael Palmer who wrote medical thrillers but am not sure. Does anyone know?

I started this one, got about 25% through it and decided it wasn't compelling enough for me to invest more time on it.

I started this one instead and returned Countdown.

I am so glad you too found it as good as I did!!! I bought The Making of Us by Lisa Jewell so many thanks for turning me on to this super author.

I am still reading Iron House by John Hart which is very good but not as good as his book The Last Child but a good read. Have you read either?

I just finished TARA ROAD by Maeve Binchy - good book and a good story. Anyone care to tell me you favorite Binchy book? I'd like to read another but so many to choose from. I have also read LIGHT A PENNY CANDLE - I think I liked it more than Tara Road.

Read a couple of books while on vacation, "The Way Life Should Be" by Christina Baker Kline, a quick, enjoyable read about a woman searching for a simpler life and leaves everything behind to follow her dream of living in a coastal cottage, and what she perceives to be a simpler life, & "The One I Left Behind" about a serial killer stalking a small town by Jennifer McMahon. Currently reading "Fourth of July Creek" by Smith Henderson, and it has my attention! DCS worker dealing with a survivalist who thinks the country is on the brink of a war, anti-government type, while dealing with his own personal crisis.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Re: What Are You Reading --- September 2014

I read Kathy Reichs' latest in the Bones mystery series, "BONES NEVER LIE". Her last two books were not very good, but this one is an improvement. It drags a bit in the middle, but the beginning and end are good. Now I am reading the latest Leslie Meier mystery, "FRENCH PASTRY MURDER", where Lucy and the gang leave Tinkers Cove and go to Paris. It's an interesting change of pace, so far.
