Re: What Are You Reading --- September 2014

Finished THE HYPNOTIST's LOVE STORY by LIANE MORIARTY. It was okay. I expected more, there was a love triangle with a stalker! There could been more drama, excitement, suspense. It was vanilla. I enjoyed The Husband's Secret much better.

I am reading BIG LITTLE LIES by Liane Moriarity. I like it so much more than THE HUSBAND'S SECRET. I just wish I could stay awake longer so I could read more.

Re: What Are You Reading --- September 2014

I started Big Little Lies (about 6 chapters in) and am finding the style kind of irritating. It's almost exactly like The Husband's Secret. I've put it away for a while.

Finished Crocodile On The Sandbank (Elizabeth Peters) the first in the Amelia Peabody series and enjoyed it very much. I'm happy to find another series I can read in between more serious books.

Also read The Bean Trees (Barbara Kingsolver) another wonderful book by this author. So far I have loved every book I've read by her.

Am currently reading Miss Pym Disposes (Josephine Tey). I am so in love with this book. It's a little dated but a wonderful psychological study. Right now, I can't put it down. I hope the end doesn't disappoint.

Re: What Are You Reading --- September 2014

Just finished The Vacationers by Emma Straub. Loved this book about family and their vacation in Mallorca. It was worth waiting on hold at the library for a month or so. If you haven't read her first book, do so. It was just as good, if not better but totally different subject.

Onto Anne Rivers Siddons The Girls of August. Don't recall if I ever read a book by her before and if I did it was ages ago. This book reminds me of Nancy Thayer's books about friends.

Whoever put me on to Billie Letts books, which book did you like besides Honk and Holler Opening Soon? Loved it by the way.

You will also love MADE IN THE U.S.A. and SHOOT THE MOON. If you haven't read WHERE THE HEART IS, which was her claim to fame with the movie release, the book is so much better than the movie. I was shocked to learn on this forum that Billie has passed away. A huge loss for the literary world.

Where The Heart Is was my favorite. Sorry that she is gone and won't be writing anymore. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

Oh, what a shame. She had a real talent. I will start over with Where the Heart Is. Thanks for the info.
