Going through Netflix movies, I found a Three Pines Mystery-it was a Masterpiece Theater presentation two years ago. Huh? Not here it wasn't or I totally missed it. It stars Nathaniel Parker of the Inspector Lynley series. BAD CHOICE! How could they pick him???? I picture David Suchet. Oh, well, a little Gramache is better than no Gramache. I put it in my Queue.

Judaline, I saw what I think is the same movie. I didn't like the character chosen to play Gamache at all. Let me know what you think of it. LM

Thanks for the alert--I won't be watching that movie.

Here's my suggestion for lovers of Inspector Gamache: listen to some of the audio books. Spectacular! The French accent used here and there really enhances the presentation.

Insomniac, great idea. I have never tried an audio book but this would be a great way to experience Three Pines! LM

Missing You by Harlan Coben was an interesting and disturbing read. It was about people who sign up for an online dating site and things that happened to them. I did like the book.

Now I'm starting Beyond Limits by Laura Griffin.

I just finished this one from Mark Gimenez. I have liked his other books, but for me this one was so so. I think it was too much mention back and forth of Vietnam.

1573389

Ben Brice lives alone in the New Mexico wilderness where he battles memories of Vietnam with oceans of Jim Beam. Miles away in Texas, his estranged son, John, an Internet geek-turned-billionaire, half watches his daughter Gracie's soccer game while conducting business on his cell phone. When her mother Elizabeth arrives, the coach reports that her uncle has already collected Gracie. But Gracie has no uncle--she was kidnapped.

From international best-selling author Mark Gimenez comes a terrifying thriller in which dark family secrets make the finding of ten-year-old Gracie Brice more uncertain with every passing minute. And so begins a furious race against time to save Gracie from unknown kidnappers. With the FBI camped out in the Brice mansion, the family offers a reward of $25 million. Somehow, Ben and John Brice must find Gracie before it is too late. As the story unfolds with riveting twists and turns, the reader discovers that behind the kidnapping is an extraordinary government plot that could change the course of American history. And time is running out....

Just finished While Beauty Slept by Elizabeth Blackwell, a retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairly tale. Save yourselves--don't read it. I suffered through it and wished I hadn't. The main character, a servant in the castle (or is she something more?) constantly, and I mean every few pages, reminds us that Bad Things are going to happen. Ya think? As if anyone reading this wouldn't be familiar with the Sleeping Beauty story. I grudgingly award it 2/5 stars because I did manage to slog through it and found a few parts enjoyable.

Re: What Are You Reading --- March 2015

I finished A Sudden Light (Garth Stein) and wish I hadn't. It's definitely not The Art of Racing in the Rain. He's a good writer and I know some people will really like this book, but not me. Someone on Amazon posted it's like Eugene O'Neill meets Ghost. That's actually very kind to compare it to Eugene O'Neill.

Well, now I have more time to read The Bone Clocks (David Mitchell). I misread some of the reviews. It seems more people liked Cloud Atlas than this book, but so far it's interesting.

I still have Station Eleven to read, and Being Mortal (Atul Gawande) just became available to me. When it rains, it pours.

Any ERIK LARSON fans on this thread? His latest; DEAD WAKE is masterful. I traditionally do not read nonfiction but he writes in ""fiction fashion"". I highly recommend his others; DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY & ISAAC'S STORM. He is an outstanding storyteller of historical & pivital events.
