She is not the best writer in the world but I like to read her books because the area she writes about is a place that we visit each summer. Even though she changes the names of some places you can often guess what she is referring to if you are familiar with the area. The books are quick fun reads. And if you like fishing there are lots of references to both fly and sport fishing.
abbalulu, I started reading her series because of the location. When we lived in WI we used to vacation near Minocqua, and always took trips over to Rhinelander and Eagle River. I stopped reading the series because she's such a bad writer. I did like that she really seemed to know the area instead of just picking places off a map.

Finished Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts. Not as good as the 1st one in this series. Too much sorcery for me.
Going to read Jen Lancaster's Twisted Sisters next.

I'm getting ready to start Tell Me You're Sorry by Kevin O'Brien. I always enjoy his books.

Hi Readers! Haven't checked out this thread for a while--love seeing what everyone is reading. I'm currently reading All the Light We Cannot See by Doerr. I'm about 1/4 through and so far I'm loving it.

I agree she doesn't write that well at all compared to some of the other mystery writers who really develop their characters. Fortunately they are quick reading books and I read them mainly because both my husband and myself have ties to the Saint Germaine-Lac Du
Flambeau areas since our childhoods. I keep hoping that her writing will improve since I do enjoy reading books that take place in a familiar area. You can really see what it looks like in your mind. However if the writing doesn't get better I will probably eventually drop the series also.

This morning finished One Plus One by Jojo Moyes and started Sycamore Row, by John Grisham immediately after. I forgot it was a Christmas gift this past year. Lost in a stack of books I have at home. Oh well Christmas in July.

The Last Policeman by Ben H. Winters is a murder mystery set in a pre-apocalyptic United States, and #1 of a trilogy. It was very good, and I really like the protagonist, rookie detective, Henry Palace. Even though everything is crumbling and the future is bleak, Detective Palace carries on, performing his duties by the book, determined to solve his murder case. I'm looking forward to reading the next two installments.

Beginning was kind of slow. In fact I started back over around the 20 page mark since my mind was wondering so bad instead of paying attention. Once I focused and got past the who is who I really enjoyed it. I love her books so I expect a lot. My favorite of hers is The Last Letter From Your Lover.
