I also enjoyed FIve Quarters of an Orange, WWII story. I read Holy Fools and wasn't that impressed, but I guess I can't love them all. Have others of hers in my "to-read" pile.
I listened to peaches for Father Francis as a library audio download and enjoyed it.

I finished THE PERFUME COLLECTOR. Thought it was OK - not great - started getting kind of dull halfway through. Anyway, read THE SILKWORM next. It was not what I had expected. The plot and the whole storyline was a little too gross for me. But I LOVED Strike and Robin so I finished it - mainly to see what happened with them. By the time I finished it I really didn't really care who did it. Now I'm reading THE CUCKOO'S CALLING and I find the exact opposite - I LOVE IT. Love the plot, love Strike and love Robin - don't want it to ever end! Anyone feel the same?

I just finished Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth and I am embarrassed to say it took me almost 1 year! I enjoyed it, it's just that I found so many other books during that period that I really wanted to read so I kept putting it down. I heard there is a sequel to it but I'm wondering if I will live long enough to be able to read it. Too many books - not enough time.

I'm the one who started a thread praising The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. I was lucky enough to get a free copy of this wonderful book. If you feel like reading something literary for sheer pleasure--this is your book!

I just finished Act of War by Brad Thor (love this author). It was a fast paced thriller.

Just finished an urban fiction tale about a trio of brothers in the drug trade. Couldn't put it down.

I'm glad I discovered author Cormac McCarthy. I enjoy his style of writing for a change of pace. I just read Child of God. It's on the sad side, but I don't mind sad books from time to time. This one is about a loner who was falsely accused of rape. But he is released. His home was auctioned off, and he lives in the Tennessee mountains.
