I just finished this and I thought it was good. It's part mystery and part romance.

It took me forever to read (or so it seems) Bittersweet by Colleen McCullough. Don't know why I wanted to read this. It was flat, droll and boring. It might have been the language of Australia too that made it this way. Sure not like The Thorn Birds which was one of my favorite books from the 70's.
Going to read a lighter book -- Elin Hilderbrand's Winter Street. Don't read Xmas books but I love her books and it's not about a woman like she usually writes about.

Also just obtained A Tale For The Time Being (Ruth Ozeki) for my kindle. Thanks to LoriLori for recommending it.

It's a worthwhile read.

I was kind of disappointed in that one. I usually like his Harry Bosch novels. It was OK.

This is up next on my professional reading list:

The House Next Door by Anne River Siddons. A old book that I came across at a sale, so far it is keeping my interest!

First of all I'd like to wish a very Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate, and to everyone I wish a very happy and healthy New Year!!
I must be the only person in the world who pulled the bookmark on All the Light we Cannot See. As hard as I tried, my mind just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll do what I did with Stones from the River. I tried reading it three or four times and gave up on it, but the next time was the charm and I wound up loving it.
I also pulled the bookmark on What we Leave Behind, by Rochelle B. Weinstein. It got some good reviews and I thought it sounded interesting, but it was a stupid book that read like it was written by a 14-year old. I wasted valuable reading time on this one, reading almost half the book before I thought "NO MORE!" I'm not going to do that again, I hope.
Tonight I'm going to start The Book of you by Claire Kendal. It sounds good (here we go again)
Happy reading!
