I'm usually a number one fan of any saga, especially on a farm, but the pace was soooooo slowwwwwwwww....oh my goodness. She is a Pulitzer Prize winning author so I'm sure it's just me. Hope you enjoy it!I have recently read my third novel about a Chinese-American PI named Keye Street. The character was let go as a profiler due to her alcoholism. Somehow she always finds herself in the midst of a big case in Atlanta working with her police detective boyfriend. The author is AMANDA KYLE WILLIAMS.
I finished GRAY MOUNTAIN by Grisham -- predictable story for that author.
Next up is the Jane Smiley novel SOME LUCK -- a family saga -- and THE BURNING ROOM which features Harry Bosch and is written by Michael Connelly.

I'm still reading Revival by Stephen King. It's really good but I don't have much reading time lately, and my eyes close five minutes after I get into bed.
I received my new Paperwhite Kindle a few days ago and I haven't even opened it yet. I need time to get acquainted with it and I'm not the most electronically-minded person. Just the opposite.
Happy reading everyone!

Sunala-Please let us know how you like you kindle. I started a thread a while back about the merits of an e-reader vs. a "real" book. Interesting replies and I've still not purchased one! But I will, I swear!

On Kindle, I recently read RIVER OF SIGHS and THE WARDROBE both by Emmy Calla. THE WARDROBE was similar to a saga, while RIVER OF SIGHS was about several characters during The Depression and Prohibition going to Reno for the once-famous quickie divorce. I wish I didn't work so many hours as of late so I could read more.

glmama I've had a Kindle Keyboard for the past 2 years and it's served me very well. But, I wanted the Paperwhite so I could see better, so Mr. Sunny bought it for me for my birthday. I am going to have to "unlearn" my Keyboard Kindle and learn the Paperwhite, which I understand is totally different than the Keyboard.
I have a lot of questions, which I will ask the Amazon rep when I call. If the tech does not speak English clearly I will apologize and hang up. I have to understand every single word, because I am so dense when it comes to these "toys."
Time for you to get yourself a Kindle. They are having sales now. I saved $20 by waiting until black Friday. If you belong to AARP, you can get 15% off your Kindle. I used the discount once to buy a Kindle Fire for my daughter, and you can only get that discount one time.
tansy, I hope there won't be any problems downloading an e-book from my library. I've never had a problem with either Amazon or my county library, and I hope it will be just as good with the Paperwhite!

Finished Lorna Landvik's Best To Laugh. Great book re a 23 yr comedian in CA in the 70's. Great sub-characters too.
Onto Carol Rifka Brunt's Tell The Wolves I'm Home which has been constantly checked out for 2 yrs. I'm not kidding! That's a first for me.

sunny and tansy, I have no problem loading library books (through Amazon) to my basic Kindle, but they don't always show up on my Kindle Fire immediately. Sometimes it takes hours or even the next day. I've called Kindle C/S and the only advice he had was to reboot the Kindle Fire. That does work but I don't feel like doing that every time. I just sort of go with it because the books are always on my basic Kindle and I figure they'll show up eventually on the Fire. I don't know if the Paperwhite works the same way.
