I was laying in bed when I heard a low rumble this morning. I opened my eyes, and glanced at my watch. It was 6:23. I had been awoken by thunder. My bed is located right underneath my window, so I sat up and pulled away the curtains, so that I could watch Nature's light show.

A flash of lightning lit up the pre-dawn sky. I counted the seconds until I heard the accompanying thunder. One thousand-one, one thousand-two, one thousand-three, then KA-BOOOOOM-OOO0M-OOOOOM!!!! The thunder rolled across the sky. I head a gaggle of Canadian geese honking as they flew in the sky, having had been startled by the storm.

Then I saw another flash of lightning. Again, I counted until I heard it's thunder. One thousand-one, one thousand-two, one thousand-three. KA-BOOOOOM-OOOOOM-OOOOOOOM!!! Another loud crack of thunder filled the air. Man! This storm was right on top of me! The storm was less than one mile away!

Then the sky open and it began to pour. Strong winds, heavy rain, and I think it even hailed for a moment or two.

I continued to watch Nature's show with total and complete awe. I saw a bolt of lightning skitter across the sky, and turn the pre-dawn sky from dark to blinding white. Again, I counted off the seconds. One thousand-one, one thousand-two, one thousand-three, before the deafening thunder reviberated the air. The storm was still less than a mile away.

One of my cats was with me on my bed. Was he scared? No. He just wanted me to pet him. I called for my other cat. He answered me with a meow, to let me know that he was on the floor.

Twenty minutes later, the storm had moved to the east-north-east, with blue sky behind it.

I had moved to the couch in my living-room, and I continued to watch the lightning as it flashed in the distance. At one point, I saw a flash every minute. Man! Somebody was getting pounded!

What a way to wake up! I LOVE a good thunder storm! (As long as I am indoors, and know that I am safe, that is!)
