this is NOT a new phenomenon.....i am 60 years old and LOTS of students did this back in college, especially when they had an early morning class, or wanted to catch breakfast in the dining hall, or were heading to another dorm to relax or party.

We don't know her situation. We do know that one phone call would provide her with help. The police would protect her from an abusive situation, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Public Assistance...would provide food, clothing, medical care, and housing. I suspect she doesn't care to bother to get herself and children dressed.

Where I live not everyone is wealthy, some far from it, but I never see people wearing pajamas in public not even in Walmart.

Re: Well. I Have Seen it All

I have never seen anything like this where I live so it would be kind of a shock for me to see it. To me it's just unexpected about anywhere one would live!

I don't care what anyone else thinks, wearing pajamas in public is really gross.

It grosses me right out when I see it.

Re: Well. I Have Seen it All

It's cracking me up some of the stories posters are making up about this mother with her kids all in pajamas.

Maybe she's doing a load of laundry and needed to run to the store? LOL

Come on I think people are reaching.

I see many people in pajamas. Have you been to Walmart recently? One of the reasons I don't shop there.

Re: Well. I Have Seen it All

My husband and I were having lunch at an upscale eatery one day last summer and a man and woman came in.  I kid you not -- she was wearing long pants in a gold shimmery material and a BRA.  It was not a top, it was a BRA.  LOL. And, yes, people stared.

Re: Well. I Have Seen it All

This woman and her children that no one has met or knows and only the OP said she briefly saw now have many assumptions and conjecture attached to them.

Some of the thread's assumptions are:

- the woman & her children just got out of bed

- the woman & her children were spreading germs in the store

- the woman & her children would bring germs home to their beds

- the woman is mentally ill

- something about having "standards above the lowest common denominator"

- the woman doesn't have old school manners and that says a lot about her

- the woman & her children need to use soap (they're dirty?)

- the woman is neglecting her children and could be helped by agencies

- the woman doesn't care to bother to dress her children

- the woman dragged sick children to the store when she could've used drive-up

- the woman & her children are impoverished

Good Grief!

The BF's preschool grandson dressed up in his baby shark pj's when we went to dinner in DC.  Complete with fin on the butt and hood with scales. He did get quite a look from kids his age who wore nice pj bottoms.

@cindyNC

At that age it's still cute. Anything above that and it's definitely not!

I'm going with the family was at the laundromat, clothes were in the washer and dryer and the woman and her children needed a few things at the store. It's possible she had to save her money to get her laundry done, so she was down to the clothes on their backs- their pajamas. Perhaps they are temp staying in a motel/hotel in a surrounding town. I am never really surprised by what I see in public and unless someone is commiting a crime, I don't much notice anyone but myself and my own non-stop thoughts 😜

@Stelladorable WHAT??? You got all that from a family wearing pjs in public??
