Since filthy graphics and curse words were used in the offensive posts yesterday, could there possibly be filters put into place next year so that this couldn't happen again? Since certain words can't be used anyway in the forums? Just a thought.

Which begs the question - if certain words are filtered out of our posts automatically or supposedly not allowed to be posted, how did they get through from the spammer in the first place?

Could it be that much of what we believe isn't allowed IS actually allowed? The only word I have seen blocked with ** is the one that rhymes with "tat", as in puddy. One other time I used a word where the post was stopped and not posted. So if the troll was able to post something it isn't blocked, and maybe most things are 't blocked, they're just deleted when seen by posters and moderators.

On the first offensive post with the curse word, the troll spaced the letters so it got passed the filters.

Ah. Unsophisticated filters, then.

LOL the excuse that such posts are "bad for QVC's image" and blaming them on the moderation. I seriously doubt anyone here worries about QVC's image, they just trot that out in "Moderation" threads, among other slaps at moderation as they feel they can manage.

If there were no such posts and no inappropriateness on the forums ever, the complaints would then be that moderation had ruined the forums. There will *always* be things blamed on the moderators.

If people want to "blame" an entity why not blame QVC corporate, which provides the money and the rules for what the moderators are/are not able to/allowed to do/asked to do.

If corporate is okay with no moderation on a major holiday, then they are also okay with possible repercussions. I haven't seen any internet headlines about this or other attacks, expressing outrage over the words QVC "allowed" on their forums by not having stricter filters. LOL.

Yes, unsophisticated filters and I think we've realized QVC paid for a basic package for the forum with little wiggle room for modifications.😉 I've always felt interest in a professional, top-notch website was low on the list of priorities with QVC.   That's why we've seen so many problems over the years, with no evidence of quality control or improvement.   I do feel if moderation is deemed important here, it should be important every day of every year to be consistent.

I say just ignore threads that you don't like period. Anyone who saw the title alone realized it was a troll. I read it but to respond in anyway was just giving them what they wanted especially after they kept saying for the bump.Back to the subject : yes thank you!

My goodness, the thread was pared down!   I certainly apologize if something I wrote was "unkind."    I do feel that it's easy for us to forget that the moderators not only oversee all the replies to all the threads in all the sub-forums (that's a lot), but also answer and send email messages, research customer support issues and questions, relay tech questions to the IT support staff, and monitor the QVC-related Facebook pages...  and maybe (probably) more.    Some of us have served as forum moderators on other venues, and the job at hand isn't as simple as it might seem at face value.     I do think, as I said, that if a public board associated with a large corporation has chosen to set standards and also have moderation, it's inconsistent and a wee bit perilous to change that for a couple of days.   A walk on the wild side... 😜  Just my guess, but they might do something slightly different next year...  who knows.

LOL!  So glad I was able to bring Christmas cheer (or would that be Festivus cheer?) to those who don't have much of it.  Ho ho ho!

There are plenty of words that are allowed here that weren't prior to last June.  (Not saying  that F is.)  Posters put the ** in place of letters because they think the word isn't allowed.  Or they think it would be too unladylike to type the word - which, to me, is silly because you're "saying" it anyway :-)
