Unhappiness within comes out in an emotional reaction, unlike the happy
person
who is slow to anger. Lord, help me to glow in Your presence so that the
heat of
the moment doesn't get to me.
Scripture for the day:
"Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; give me an
undivided heart to revere your name." ~Psalm 86:11
Meditation for the day:
I believe that life is a school in which I can learn spiritual things.
I can trust in God and God will teach me. I can listen to God and God can
speak through my mind. I can commune with God in spite of all opposition
and every obstacle. There will be days when I will hear no voice in my mind
and when there will come no intimate heart-to-heart communion. But if I
persist, and make a life habit of schooling myself in spiritual things, God
can be revealed to me in many ways.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may regularly go to school in things of the spirit. I pray
that I may grow spiritually, by making a practice of all these things.
Blessings to you all this New Year's Day Eve! We had a quiet day at home
all day - one of my sisters called, otherwise no one else called. Being it
was a Holy Day of the Blessed Mother, we went to Mass at 8 this morning - it
was a very nice, prayerful Mass. I googled about how long it should take
for the pain to go away with extractions, wisdom, and it said about 2 weeks,
tomorrow will be one week, and it said also that the older you are the more
pain, which is why they encourage you to get your wisdom teeth out sooner.
Then I was thinking about many years ago, when people needed their teeth
pulled out - how awful that must have been - without all the good novocains
and stuff they have now. We are fortunate we are living now - where that's
concerned. Other things, the good ole days are the best!!! Not so much
crime then, life was much simpler. Today's blessings are the quietness,
just being home by ourselves, praying together, he made supper - that was a
blessing for me! We didn't always pray together, but we are now for the
last 3 or 4 years and it's such a blessing to so this together. We pray the
Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy daily together. What are your
blessings? Please come and share with us!

Prayer for the Feast of Mary, Mother of God
Father, source of light in every age, the virgin conceived and bore your Son
who is called Wonderful God, Prince of Peace. May her prayer, the gift of a
mother's love, be your people's joy through all ages. May her response, born
of a humble heart, draw your Spirit to rest on your people. Grant this
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
New Year Prayer
God grant us this year a wider view,
So we see others' faults through the eyes of You.
Teach us to judge not with hasty tongue,
Neither the adult ... nor the young.
Give us patience and grace to endure
And a stronger faith so we feel secure.
Instead of remembering, help us forget
The irritations that caused us to fret.
Freely forgiving for some offense
And finding each day a rich recompense.
In offering a friendly, helping hand
And trying in all ways to understand;
That all of us whoever we are ...
Are trying to reach an unreachable star.
For the great and small ... the good and bad,
The young and old ... the sad and glad
Are asking today; Is life worth living?
The answer is only in, loving and giving.
For only Love can make man kind
And Kindness of Heart brings Peace of Mind.
By giving love, we can start this year
To lift the clouds of hate and fear.

Diary Of A Bible
JANUARY:
A busy time for me.
Most of the family decided to read me through this year.
They kept me busy for the first two weeks, but they have forgotten me now.
FEBRUARY:
Cleanup time.
I was dusted yesterday and put in my place.
My owner did use me for a few minutes last week.
He had been in an argument and was looking up some references to prove he
was right.
MARCH:
Had a busy day first of the month.
My owner was elected president of the PTA and used me to prepare a speech.
APRIL:
Grandpa visited us this month.
He kept me on his lap for an hour reading Cor 1:13.
He seems to think more of me than do some people in my own household.
MAY:
I have a few green stains on my pages.
Some spring flowers were pressed in my pages.
JUNE:
I look like a scrapbook.
They have stuffed me full of newspaper clippings - one of the girls got
married.
JULY:
They put me in a suitcase today.
I guess we are off on vacation.
I wish I could stay home.
I know I'll be closed up in this thing for at least two weeks.
AUGUST:
Still in the suitcase.
SEPTEMBER:
Back home at last and in my old familiar place.
I have a lot of company.
Two women's magazines and four comic books are stacked on top of me.
I wish I could be read as much as they are.
OCTOBER:
They read me a little bit today.
One of them is very sick.
Right now I am sitting in the center of the coffee table.
I think the Pastor is coming by for a visit.
NOVEMBER:
Back in my old place.
Somebody asked today if I were a scrapbook.
DECEMBER:
The family is busy getting ready for the holidays.
I guess I'll be covered up under wrapping paper & packages again ...just as
I am every Christmas.

A Prayer
Almighty God,
As we are on the brink of a brand New Year, we thank you for all the
blessings you have given us this year.
Father, please forgive us for all that we have done, that we should not have
done, for the things we should have done and did not. Please wipe our
hearts clean and make us pure again and free in You.
We ask that in the New Year you will Guide us in our Choices and Decision
Making so that we will choose wisely with the Help of Your Holy Spirit.
Help us to acknowledge you in everything we do and then we will succeed in
our Plans.
Help us to Delight ourselves in you and you will give us the Desires of our
Heart!
Help us to Love, show compassion and help others as your Son did.
We thank you for the Gift of Jesus and for His life given for our Eternal
Salvation and Freedom.
We ask all in the Saviour's Name! Amen.
