My vote, as well.  My son and I danced to this at his wedding some twenty years ago.  I cry every time I hear this song.  Part of the wonderful world it foretold was our two wonderful grandchildren and his wife as such a wonderful addition to our family.

@JeanLouiseFinch

Congratulations! My oldest son married three years ago. I also take songs literally...lol! I wanted one with lyrics that were meaningful to us. I also didn't want one of the ones that I heard at most every wedding. I ended up choosing "A song for my son", by Mikki Viereck. I love the lyrics. Beautiful song and just right for my first born.

here's a mom and son dancing to it(not me - my son wouldn't practice...lol!)

Good luck and Best Wishes.

My son married a lovely girl in December....we danced to Tim McGraw's Humble and Kind

He loved it....I was able to find a cup with the lyrics for him to remeber the dance

Re: Wedding song suggestions?

@Shorty2U

My son got married last November. I was trying to come up with that perfect song. My older son (the best man) kept asking me about it. He suggested Hit The Road Jack- don’t worry, he was only kidding...

Unlike you I love Country music. I decided My Wish was the perfect song. But every time I listened to it I started bawling.  Then I found out that I don’t pick the song- my son picks it. Whew-what a relief. He chose It’s Your Song by Garth Brooks. Since I’m a huge Garth fan this was perfect. And I only sobbed a little at the end.

Whatever song is chosen I’m sure the wedding will be perfect!

Re: Wedding song suggestions?

I couldn't do a sentimental song for the mother groom dance, afraid I would cry, so we went in another direction. Since we are Irish and love Irish songs, we went with Pride of the County Down since our family came from County Down in Ireland. We did a polka step variation and romped across the floor getting everyone to join in the dance after the first bit. It worked really well for us.

Re: Wedding song suggestions?

Your post brought a smile to me. I danced to that song with my dad at my wedding 25 years ago. It was a beautiful song for a father/daughter dance and think it would be great for a mother/son dance as well.

My husband's mother chose "Bridge Over Troubled Water" for them to dance to. He veteod that right away and chose something else.
