When I got married, a friend had our wedding invitation fused (I think that's the word) between two pieces of glass, with colored glass edges and dried pressed flowers surrounding the frame. The woman who did it was a glass artist. She has since left the area. We hung it and it looks as good today as it did when we got married almost 23 years ago. It's one of my most prized possessions.

My best friend's daughter is going to be getting married this summer and I'd like to do something like that for her and my friend thinks her daughter will love it.

I did this 7 years ago for my stepson and his wife and used Jean's Little Garden- found them online. They did a good job- it was framed with dried flowers, but not sealed between two pieces of glass.

I wanted to check and see if any of you have ever done this and if you have, do you have any online sites that you used that you would recommend. I could certainly use Jean's Little Garden again, but thought I'd check around. I've been googling, but thought I'd check here also.

Re: Wedding invitation keepsake

I saw a few vendors on Etsy, but nothing that really excited me.

Just found a great on on Etsy- CreativeSpiritGlass.

Re: Wedding invitation keepsake

or................you can do it yourself...........just go to Hobby Lobby and get the faux stain glass paint, with the faux lead tubes.......head to the dollar store and buy two identical frames, just for the glass and one frame..........do the top glass anyway you want it, lay out the flowers, would be cool if they were from the wedding...............add the invitation........place the top glass on and put it back in the frame..........you're done.......................................raven

That's a nice thought and I appreciate you suggesting it, but I don't want to fool with all that. I want it professionally done.

Re: Wedding invitation keepsake

This would be a fun project and a lovely keepsake for the couple. Anyone remember decoupage? It was the rage years ago. Anyway, I loved doing it and one year I had a wedding invitation from a niece. I purchased a heart shaped wooden box at a craft store. I decoupaged the invitation on top and added some tiny flowers and it was a hit at Christmas when I gifted it.

Re: Wedding invitation keepsake

When brother & SIL got married I had their invitation professionally framed. It was placed in a oval domed glass (bubble) frame. She took the invitation and singed the edges, then surrounded it with flowers in their colors.

Re: Wedding invitation keepsake

If your area has a store that specializes in framing artwork, take your keepsake in as an example and ask if they can copy the idea. That's a lovely gift idea & I wish you luck!

Re: Wedding invitation keepsake

Thanks again everyone for your suggestions. I found a seller on etsy.com who does glass work and she had a wedding invitation with dried flowers featured that looked gorgeous and she had great reviews with it. I placed the initial order this morning and will send the invitation to her once I hear back from her.
