As of this morning the models still indicate a broad swath of 8-16 inches of snow in the region.

There is now a chance that ice/sleet could tamp down the snow total, which could be treacherous.   I would much prefer just plain snow for maneuvering around the city.

Yesterday's 60mph winds moved my 50 pound rocking chair on the deck. Branches flew. My 34lb dog went sideways when he went out.

We're hunkered down and waiting for the -32*F (or worse) windchill to roll in overnight - ETA 3:00 AM.  Tomorrow we will be in a dangerous weather situation.  Saturday and Sunday it will warm up a little and we're going to have lots of snow.  Schools are closing and travel is to be avoided.

I saw this yesterday and wondered if it could happen to any of our trees.  It's interesting but I hope it doesn't.

Okay, folks, I live in a suburb just north of Nashville and do not like winter at all!  Now with all the crazy predicitions about snow and ice and sleet, I'm like "Come on, springtime! Hurry up and get here!"  This city is not equipped to handle snow, much less the other yucky stuff.  And I don't want a long-term power outage either with the temps dipping to zero a few nights.  This is the South, Mother Nature, not the North where cold and snow and ice are better (although in excess not wanted).  Just want this to be all snow and melt soon please!

Heads up, Georgia peeps!

We all went under new storm watches so it's not just the GA mountains and north metro. From Gwinnett on down through Atlanta, you're in!

I lived in Michigan in the early to mid 90's and I don;t think I ever heard of an exploding tree risk. Learn something new everyday huh?

Refinements for NYC are 8-12 inches, with 12+ projected for areas north and northwest of the City.  More icing south in areas of coastal New Jersey.

A big news story today is school on Monday, should this occur:

The weather was positively balmy today in southeastern PA, I think close to 50 degrees.  We spent time clearing out slush and snow from last week's weather event, and went to the store for essentials:  wine, cookies, cold cuts and other items to eat should we lose power.  Phones will be charged and my little AM/FM transistor radio ( yes, I still have one) is ready to go.  I just hope we keep our power and our heat; all of our utilities are above ground. Most stations in Philly are forecasting 14-17 inches....ugh.

Good luck everyone!
