Last week we had three major storms, with doom and gloom predicted.  We had wind, we had  extreme cold, and here's a measurement of the predicted snow total.

@cheriere.  We're desert and desperately need the moisture so badly.

@Kachina624

It's sorta the same way here. Hardly any snow but plenty of high winds and cold. Colorado Springs is also in a high desert region.

People in N. M. all need to have frozen plumbing then all go outside and pee.

Problem solved.

Usually, our weather forecasters get all hyper when it comes to storms.  There are so many jokes about us Southerners running to the grocery store any time that 4-letter word snow is even mentioned.  So, this time we were told for days it was going to be nothing.  Maybe some flurries, maybe a wintery mix.  Then, the day before they changed it to maybe a one or two day event since we all know snow shuts down the city.  Well, we didn't get snow; we got ice.

So, yeah, if you bring out a measuring stick, there's not much to measure.  But when you put that on the roads, nobody's going anywhere for days because the temps plummeted and didn't get above freezing for a couple of days.  And even when they did get a little above freezing, it was cloudy, so no sun to warm up the streets, so we got freezing rain to add to what was already there.

No mail or deliveries all week.  18-wheelers getting stuck.  Cars in ditches all over the place.  We had a local Jeep group transporting essential workers to/from work and home.  I've got a Jeep, but I'm not driving on this stuff.  Sout of us, on the Interstate, they had to call in the National Guard to rescue stranded drivers.  The tow trucks couldn't get to them because they were running off the road too.

At least we'll warm up this week @deepwaterdotter. We had an eight in snowfall, followed by a twelve inch one in central WI. The drifting was awful.
