...and the world is a poorer place for it, in my opinion. The man had a wonderful mind, and the most marvelous gift for language.
"... HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE."
Any other Discworld fans out there? I'm feeling bereft.

I think so - bear with me, the man wrote something like 70 books, and I think I've read nearly all of them!
The idea of Discworld sort of hovers over all the books, in any case. All his books have his trademark humor, his love of puns and his tremendous humanity.
If you want to enter Discworld, I recommend any of the witch books or the guards stories. There are also some "reading order" recommendations online, if you search.

My son and DIL have an extensive collection. Sounds like you do, too! I've suggested him and Neil Gaiman to my book group several times. However, no one else is interested in pursuing either author.

AAARRRGGHHHH! If only they knew what they were missing! Gaiman is good, too.

He was a fantasy author. He was only 66. Not old.
