My mom had a range that looked just like this one that she got in about 1954, but it was white. I think it was an O'Keefe & Merritt brand. That thing was built like a tank & she loved it!

p.s. our Washer and Dryer we replaced about 3 years ago . . . with RED . . . were from the Almond phase . . . and were about 19 years old. Anyone remember the Almond phase?

I've always thought it looked like the City Morgue.
I would have to agree with you, Burnsite. I don't think even visualizing it sounds appealing. Nice to "see" you by the way.
Don't take it personally, CardinalGirl. We're just expressing our opinions about certain finishes.
Oh, I get that everyone has their own personal tastes. I just thought the words "cold" and "morgue" sounded strange. Here are some pictures of my black granite and stainless kitchen. I get that it won't please everyone, and that's fine--it only has to please my husband and me. But does it look either "cold" or like a "morgue"? I don't think so.
CardinalGirl, your kitchen is gorgeous! That in no way is the look I was referring to. Yours is warm and inviting with those beautiful dark wood cabinets. The stainless steel isn't the main attraction. I've seen kitchens that are cold looking because there's an overabundance of stainless.
Beautiful!

My grandmother would fall down laughing. She walks around antique malls, astonished that people want that old cr*p.
Except that "old cr*p" is brand new. :-) SMEG refrigerators start out at around $2,000.

Wow, that's a beauty. Wouldn't mind having it either...
Not a big fan of dark stone counters, prefer whites, creams, pale greys and beiges to the darker colors...
Almond appliances are still available, or at least a variation of them... but they seem to be calling it bisque. I guess I still just prefer white, but the 'cranberry' they were offering for a few years was very pretty too.

I had a refrigerator like that cream colored one in my first apartment.
The apt. was built in 1949. I think the fridge probably was original. It was white and in pretty good shape. Except I would have to defrost the freezer with my blow dryer every so often.

Unless it carries the food in from the car and puts it away, for two thousand bucks I'll take a larger fridge with a bottom drawer freezer... Nostalgia's fine, but for the price I'd probably opt for something else.
