I could never live in Cali, though it's the prom queen of the USA - gorgeous, super nice, and abundantly natural in it's glorious beauty - but that lil shake scared the daylights outta me.  So unlike Prom Queen Cali - I'm in the stable footing Philly!

Earthquakes are minor, compared to the annual tornados and hurricanes other states get.

For the most part, they are predictable ... but people stay in those areas, anyway.

Go figure.

The first qhake I experienced was in Taipei and the second was in Germany. Then I moved to CA desert to "the earthquake Capitol of California"( there are many faults in that area). Frequently experienced 3 s and 4 s and occasionally 5 s. Never was a problem as there were no overpasses and only a couple of buildings more than 2 stories. Left CA in 2007 for AZ and no quakes so far but the CA city I left, Ridgecrest, got 2 huge ones in 2019: a 6.9 on Fri and then a 7.1 on Sat ( no one was hurt but infrastructure was extensively damaged. They also go thousands of aftershocks over the next couple of years.

I moved here (to SoCal) in the late 1970s.

When I felt my first earthquake, I was home alone ... in the shower ... naked, of course .... when things started shaking.

What an initiation!   Woman Surprised

We now get them in the NY metro area too.  We had one not too long ago.  Shook the whole house.

Hope everyone is okay.

Shaking is not good for a home's foundation and the piping.  uh.........

Signs of the end times.

Earthquakes in different places....wars and rumors of wars....famines, disease

yeah....it's heating up.  Jesus warned us of this.  He would not have extended Himself if He did not want us to be ready.  If not we would abandon our faith and think He is not coming for us.

I'm in so Cal & have the Quakefeed app on my phone. Thankfully I only get alerts about the ones near me because they happen constantly, all over the world!  But it's crazy to see all the locations & magnitude.

Earthquakes aren't a "sign".  They've been happening since forever, just like hurricanes, tornados and even rainstorms.  Increased fracking has affected how often an area gets earthquakes.  I believe Oklahoma has had many more earthquakes in the last decade.

Times change.  Global warming is also affecting the whole planet, one way or another.

@tipsy

I have that same app. I was surprised by how many earthquakes occurred worldwide daily.

Alaska has many earthquakes, as does  California; we are part of the "Ring of Fire".

That is scary.

A few years ago, I felt an earthquake here in PA.  I was sitting at the kitchen table when the house felt like it was hit by a car.

It was so confusing, mostly because there was no sound...just a silent crash.  My poor dog looked at me very confused.

We had no dmage, but the local grocery store had stuff tumble from the shelves.

That was my first experience and I hope the last with earthquakes.

I agree with you.  I was born and raised in California.  I don't understand why earthquakes are seen as worse than hurricanes, tornadoes and floodings.  I have experienced several earthquakes throughout the years but never something major like buildings collapsing.
