I can't even fathom not having Central AC.  No matter where I lived in the United States I would want a central AC unit to keep the inside air cool and like humidity low. But that's just my hot natured self.

You wrap up in a blanket with the AC set to 78? Our hvac system has never seen 78. Not in the winter and not in the summer LOL

Re: We Were Finally Able To Turn The Fans Off

@monicakm   I am always cold.  I use a blanket all year around.

Our summers are hot.  We have been at almost 100 degrees all week.  It is humid here.  We never have dry heat.

We use the AC to keep the humidity out of the house.  My husband likes to make the house colder, but I can't stand cold, so, 76 to 78 degrees works.

Re: We Were Finally Able To Turn The Fans Off

Our house is closed up from sometime in October when the temp drops to usually late April or early May when you can open windows.

I love have all the windows open and the fresh air.  Fans allow us to have the windows open

I can't imagine having the house closed up not just in the winter but in the summer for AC.

I'm in Texas. Honey we are just getting started. It won't cool off here till sometime in late October. August will be our hottest month and you can see by this WeatherBug photo what it is going to be the next 10 days. It's the humidity that makes it so freaking unbearable. I wish I was in Vegas where the temperature might be 110°, but the humidity is like 10%.

I'm in TX too! @monicakm  Yes, there is no reprieve till the fall, so AC is necessary all the time now. I love the early spring when I can open the windows.  Now, it's hot and humid, and triple digit temps are coming.

My AC went out last evening. I'm glad my repair person will be coming by noon today.  Hopefully, he doesn't have to order a part.

@monicakm.  I understand as I lived in Texas too.  However, other people live in places that didn't used to be insufferable hot.  Now, with climate change, that's changed and everybody is going to need AC.

I hope the energy grids can keep up.  We used to have a couple of brownouts throughout the summer but that's been a few years.

Oh no! That is the worst. I've always said that if my power is going to go out I wish it was in December and not July.  We did lose power about a month ago due to storms and was without for 3 days. Lost everything in the refrigerator. My husband myself and the dogs went to a hotel the first night and then the second night he stayed in the house with the dogs and I stayed at the hotel where it was 60°. The next day I spent at my daughters and till around 7:00 p.m. when my husband picked me up. He stayed here and cleaned up all the debris From The Storm.

Yes it's so nice when we can throw the windows open and air out the house and breathe in that cool fresh country air. Stay cool!
