at least for today. After 7y strong breeze God awful days of 90+ degrees and insane humidity it finally broke and at 4:00 this morning it was cool enough to turn off all the fans, 3 in the living room and 1 in the kitchen. DD has 2 ceiling fans and an oscillating one in her bedroom upstairs. They all have been running non stop since last Monday.
Now, of course, the heat and humidity is returning for at least Wednesday but for now it is great. It is cloudy in the 60s and there is a pretty strong breeze but I'll be darned if I am closing any windows.
When I was younger I could take my bottle of Hawaiian Tropic and sit in the sun and heat fo hours, heck, when I was 45 I went to Florida in July and sat in my friends back yard. Now, at nearly 74 I just feel like I'm a Perdue chicken and my little red thermometer poppeed up.
I'm in NE PA. Is your weather gotten any better?
I apologize for any typos, stupid cataracts.

Yes, much better here in my part of Pa. I still have the fans on, but I've turned off the air and opened windows a bit. Great breeze out there today. Too bad it won't last.

@CrazyKittyLvr2. As I recall, we went through this last year and strongly suggested you invest in an AC unit, at least for one area of your house.
With climate change, you're going to go throught this periodically from now on, including probably more THIS summer. Your choice.

I'm thinking about turning the AC off and opening the windows for a while but I know I'll be sorry about a half hour after I do.

It has been brutal and I know several folks in our area are facing heat issues, some of the senior care offices put out a request for fans and A/C units if anyone has them available to loan out. Sure feels good to open the doors and windows today! Many of our homes are not equipped with central air nor do they have the needed ductwork to support it, most of the older homes have a hotwater heating system and some do not have the electrical system to support the A/C units. Folks from our church went to homes to help some members get window units installed.

I was about to ask if people in the northeast had air conditioners. I don't personally know anyone who lives there so I apologize if that's a stupid question. I'm in Texas and we definitely have ACs to deal with our brutal weather.

I'm in southern NY. State and today is WONDERFUL ! This last week was wretched and much too early for this level of misery. Yes we know about AC, however some of us like to enjoy being outdoors. At least in cold weather you can put on a coat.

@Kachina624 Yes, we did go though this last year. My daughter and I discussed it. AC in one area is fine if we stay in that one area. AC in the living room doesn't help in the kitchen or the 2 bedrooms. Ideally. we would need 4 air conditioners. LR. kitchen and our bedrooms.
We got 2 extra fans and can run all the fans cheaper than even 1 air conditioner.
We can always make a change if need be.
If we could find a someplace with 70 degrees, a breeze and sun year round I would move there. Oh, also no wildfire prone area, no tornados or earthquakes.

@santorini We are in southern NY and have central air. Got it years ago. I can't take the heat.
