Well, if there ever was a great reason not to start exercising I just found it!!

Joking aside, check out walkers that are made specifically for those with ankle injuries. You put the knee of the injured leg on a pad and push yourself along. I don't know the actual name but I'll see if I can find it. I've seen someone using one at Costco and a friend used one when she broke her ankle.....

ETA: Wow, they really are called "knee walkers"!

I was actually thinking about something like that, kdgn.

That would help me on the main floor. I cannot negotiate steps right now. I crawled up and down them to get to the bedroom. The basement is out of the question.

No driving either.

You're all stuck with me...

brii - So sorry to hear about your foot. Hope it heals fast.

I saw a woman using one of those ""knee"" walkers recently and she was talking about how great it was and how much it helped her get around.

Sorry about your foot brii. You need to go up and down stairs on your butt. Remember the scene from the Sound of Music where the children are saying goodnight to the party guests? The youngest went up the stairs that way. Very effective way to negotiate stairs with a foot, ankle or knee injury.

Thanks, Lion and Marp.

I went down on my butt. Going up was a little harder. I'm going to have some great looking triceps after this ordeal.

(sorry your thread got derailed, Marp. I do appreciate all the well wishes)

Autumn, thank you. I'm uncomfortable now. It doesn't hurt as much as it did yesterday and last night.

Glad you're not in too much pain. Did the ER wrap your foot? Wonder if you can have a removable cast once you see the doctor. Hoping for the best! Try not to go too stir crazy at home.

I have a temporary cast. He said absolutely no weight bearing on it. I don't know what the orthopedic doctor will say. I assume it won't be removable. We'll see...

No derailing at all. This kind of topic is always a free form evolution.
