He's really riled up, or scared. Looks like he's putting on a porcupine display. He'd be kinda cute, in his own way, if you didn't know they can be aggressive.

First saw them in Brazill. A bunch were in tall grass - wasn't sure why the grass was moving and they scared the heck out of me.  Also saw one on a golf course in AZ.

Wow, that is quite a large and healthy looking javelina @Pezzie! I've never seen one with it's hair standing up either. Firstly, I'm glad it wasn't startled to the point of charging and Secondly, what an excellent photo!!! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with that cute, wild haired porker 🐗
