I had a similar experience.

 

At 19, I applied to AA to be a "stewardess."  Somehow, I made it to a personal interview.

 

I was 5' 6" & 135.  I was told that I was too heavy, but she added, "Those are slim aisles and we need slim girls."

 

I never forgot those words!  It was a terrible blow to my young egoCat Sad

I am 5'6 1/2"... thirty five pounds is considered an ideal   weight for someone that height.  I can well imagine you felt put down, sorry you had to experience that.

That's cool that your husband is a pilot! Tell him I trust flying more than driving on the bypass, because I trust pilots more than people blabbing on cellphones not watching the road. I joke about this all the time, but its true. My husband will not fly because sadly his best friend was killed in a plane crash in NY years back. I try to tell him pilots are trained and safe (to no avail, he wont get in a plane). I haven't flown in awhile, just because of health issues and having to go through all the checks now days and waiting in long lines.
