Her daughters took the name of Brady, so they must have been legally adopted by Mike Brady, so there was no real life father in the picture. He was either dead or a total dead beat Dad who gave up his parental rights. My money is on he was dead.

At least Mike and Carol shared the same bed. Always laughed when married couples had twin beds. Lol
The Bradys were the frist TV couple to share a bed.

I always thought it was Oliver and Lisa Douglas on Green Acres. I just looked and if you don't count people who were married in real life, it seems to be Lily and Herman Munster - unless they don't count because he wasn't human lol

OMG, this thread is fun to read! A day-brightener after a stressful day! I always liked the layout of the Brady house, especially the main floor. All that room! Mike's den was the coolest! The upstairs was way too small for such a large main floor, though. Just a TV show, I know, but the interior of that house always intrigued me.

Crews were used to add a false window to create the illusion of a "second story" to the house. All the interior scenes were shot on the Paramount Television soundstage, and all the exterior views of the home ever used were filmed before the show ever debuted.

I think families should do what is meaningful to them, and a blanket statement like this really shows no understanding of people choosing their own course in their lives.
As for it happening that way on the show, consider the times. Blended families with kids of different names was not going to project the wholesome primetime, family viewing image that they were looking for. It was done there for image reasons.

I just remember that her last name was Martin when she and Mike got married. LOL
LOL and Alice's last name was Nelson. I'm still waiting for that to come up at trivia night.
In the BB movies didn't the father come back? Tim Matheson played the guy I'm thinking of.
That was a Who Wants to be a Millionaire question at one of the levels.

I loved the house but it never made sense to me. Mike was an architect and they had 6 kids but 1 bathroom for all 6 to share! LOL
I still watch A Very Brady Christmas every year. Doesn't seem like the holidays without it. I also love the episode where Carol loses her voice at Christmas and Cindy asks Santa Claus to get it back for her as her Christmas gift. LOL
